Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Patient Account Services:

  • Works with assigned health plans to maintain proper processing of claims
  • Ensures accurate data entry of patient payments, insurance receipts and denials for assigned accounts
  • Writes appeals to health plans
  • Maintains and monitors assigned accounts to ensure prompt payments and proper billing of health plans and/or patients
  • Follows the collection procedures for private balance accounts aged over 60 days
  • Responds to patient inquiries regarding accounts in a knowledgeable and courteous manner with documentation of patient contact
  • Assists patients with their account questions
  • Follows all protocols for account maintenance
  • Performs miscellaneous billing tasks delegated
  • Other duties as assigned

 
Job Requirements
Education / Credentials / Qualifications / Experience: 
 

  • High school graduate or GED required, post secondary education preferred
  • 1 year continuous experience in business office, bank teller, cashier or medical office work
  • Accounting knowledge or experience preferred
  • Medical billing experience a plus
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting

 
Knowledge, Skills and abilities
Medical Billing Representative:
 

  • Detail oriented
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients and other staff
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to communicate clearly with patients and other staff
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations and to work under high pressure situations
  • Good oral and written communication skills in English
  • Good telephone manners and etiquette
  • Excellent people skills
  • Ability to work well and effectively with others
