DESKTOP ARCHITECT

Position Description

This position is responsible for the review and architecture of emerging/innovative technologies for end user computing. Act as the subject matter expert on all issues relating to the physical and virtual end devices who the team will count on to take ownership and drive the team to completion and resolution. Provide leadership for the planning, design, and transition of the end device environment including but not limited to; maintaining the device images, providing Level 3 care to Desktop Analysts, Application Deployment, Application Services & the Infrastructure Teams. Demonstrate strong problem solving skills and the ability to understand how divergent technologies can integrate at the end point. Apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help maximize the benefit of organizational directives and business goals.

·Define & document image build processes including testing & QA; Research & design alternative solutions to improve workstation performance, usability & reliability. Manage the overall deployment methodology for workstations, laptops & virtual environments.

·Design enterprise-wide roadmaps that met the needs of the organization's strategy, its technical applications and business requirements.

·Perform architecture, design and review of development policies for adherence to standards and best practices to enhance the user experience

·Research solutions, develop action plans, create timelines & implement deployment package solutions for large, complex projects; Partner with Application Development, Application Services & the Infrastructure Teams.

·Recommend tools, techniques, technologies for workstation and mobile device management

·Assist in the response of defining & analyzing issues escalated from the Service Desk, Security, Desktop Support and Infrastructure Teams.

·Analyze Problem Management & Root Cause Analysis reports & search for trends & solutions to prevent future problems; engage other teams to aggressively address significant problems.

·Adhere to existing ITIL processes as documented & actively participate in the development of new processes that adhere to best practices or ITIL methodology; Evaluate & anticipates the impact of technical solutions on environment; Identify key performance indicators to quantify systems performance & deployment deliverables.

·Lead in the development of standard operational procedures & design documentation that follows best practices; incorporate thorough testing & quality assurance standards within all procedures.

·Collaborate with Application Services to identify & maintain a definitive software standards list & the software lifecycle.

·Lead efforts to share technical knowledge within team & with other support teams; Provide documentation & training to Service Desk Analysts & the Desktop Support team on advanced problem solving & issue resolution; Mentor other IT team members to increase their overall understanding of process & quality assurance; Ensure that technical knowledge is maintained & updated in the knowledgebase.

·Maintain the highest level of customer satisfaction by resolving all tangible problems & concerns & providing excellent client service.

·Build and Maintain secure baselines to benchmark mobile devices.

·Other projects and duties as assigned. 

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science; demonstrated experience may be considered in lieu of degree. 

Required Experience

Five years' experience of technical support for Desktop Operating Systems including Windows 7.  Expert knowledge of Windows© migrations, deploying Microsoft cloud services and platforms: Office 365, Azure, Intune, OneDrive, Skype/Teams, and Multi-factor Authentication (MFA).  Strong working knowledge of Server technologies, Active Directory, Group Policy, and network technologies are required.  Proven Experience with computer applications including setup, maintenance & troubleshooting along with working experience with enterprise-wide deployment solutions.

Preferred Experience

Experience with technical support for Desktop Operating Systems including Windows 10.
