JOB SUMMARY

The Lab Coordinator will supervise the Mechanical Engineering Laboratories, with primary focus on the machine shop and wood shop.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provide supervision of Mechanical Engineering machine shops, ensuring safe and appropriate work practices.
  • Maintain Mechanical Engineering machine shop and related work spaces, ensuring consumable items and materials are stocked and machines are kept in top functioning order.
  • Assist with design of projects based on knowledge of design, engineering, material properties, machining and fabrication techniques.
  • Provide feedback on product and project reviews.
  • Support both instructional and research projects.
  • High level of customer service interacting with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures, acting as a resource for safe lab practices across the department.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors level degree in industrial technology, or journeyman machinist, tool and die maker, or an Associate's degree in a technical field, plus one year of practical technical or lab experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three to five years of experience machining and part fabrication in a variety of industrial environments
  • Knowledge of safe work practices in industrial environments.
