JOB SUMMARY

The Assistant Director of Alumni Relations and University Engagement co-manages the College's alumni relations strategies and executes the key programming necessary to do so. This role collaborates with the University (University Development and Alumni Relations (UDAR), the President's Office, Career Services, etc.) and other University colleagues, strategic partners and community groups to enhance the graduate/undergraduate business alumni experience and reputation of the college. This person will be the first responder to inquiries and services from external groups/business professionals.

In partnership with the Director of External Relations, the assistant director supports key relationships including the Opus College of Business Board of Strategic Advisors, St. Thomas Affinity Groups (TAGs), and external partners (various industry/young professionals groups.) This individual will serve as first point of contact for internal service units, external individuals/organizations seeking engagement opportunities with the college (employer relations/recruiting/sponsorship/partnership). This individual will manage formal relationships involving sponsorships/co-marketing/co-programming arrangements such as Best Prep and EY Entrepreneur of the Year. They will also serve as a primary representative at external events (annual meetings/awards programs/conferences).

The individual will direct major alumni relations events such as the Opus alumni webinar, FIRST Friday and DRIVE programs, as well as other signature events delivered by the Opus College of Business.

The assistant director supports Opus College of Business alumni communications, which include relationship management with key constituents, mass communications, and event promotions tied to the College's website, monthly e-newsletter, online networking CRM, etc.

All activities support the recruitment goals of the college by providing a platform to drive lead generation and lead nurturing for OCB's portfolio of degree and non-degree programs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Collaborate on the research, creation and execution of Opus College of Business Graduate Business alumni engagement strategy for in state, out-state, online (webinar/cloud), and future opportunity segments. Enhance the alumni experience, including overseeing post-degree support, such as opportunities for career assistance, one-to one service/support, mentorship, guest speaking, corporate and employer relations, and lead nurturing/generation opportunities for the College.

2. Sets the communication, engagement, and storytelling strategy for assigned segments. Executes influencer campaigns to drive outcomes. Serves as a liaison to public relations and University-available social media resources (staff and channels). Monitor industry publications (Twin Cities/U.S.) for awards information, trends, topics and other data points to bring visibility to the College. Pitches and develops stories ensuring representation of all segment targets. Secure, write and edit content, design and configure graphics and logos in a variety of licensed design and content management systems. Creates HTML. Manages a variety of internal and external lists, procuring new lists as needed. Maintains the St. Thomas voice, and both College and University brand standards. Willing to learn new technologies/systems as they emerge.

3. Oversee the planning and management of events, programs and partnerships targeted towards key constituencies strategic to the college and University, including one half of the St. Thomas Affinity Groups (TAGs). Duties include, but are not limited to identifying key relationship targets, facilitating planning meetings, researching content, program design, establishing metrics, coordinating logistics, and managing communications/relationships with volunteers. Recruits and selects appropriate speakers based on learning/experience goals, manages communications with speakers including contracts, bios/photos, other deliverables and payments, if applicable. Schedules and collaborates with University of St. Thomas internal service providers including MIC, catering, ITS, facilities, security, service center (print), parking services and other departments as needed, as well as external vendors (e.g., florist, equipment rentals, video, etc.). Represent the Opus College of Business at programs and events and support other programs delivered by the Office External Relations as needed.

4. Support Opus College of Business Board of Strategic Advisors operations, maximizing opportunities for committee alignment and outcomes. Supports overall Board vision and strategy. Drives external partner/target participation in referral efforts for degree/certificate/executive education, and various Opus undergraduate scholarship initiatives. Manages reporting requirements. Engages with technology systems and visual assets needed for off-site participant collaboration (portals, webinar and phone systems).

5. Acts as primary liaison to University Alumni Relations, Advancement, and President's Office. Leads cultivation opportunities for corporations, industry organizations and "friends". Maintains accurate and reliable constituent data. Collaborates with other University Development and Alumni relations staff and serves various Opus internal clients and external partners as needed. Practices responsibility and ethics with sensitive information.


QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
  • Three years of program/office management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree
