JOB SUMMARY

The Associate Vice President of Projects, Process & Initiatives leads the planning, strategy, and support for ITS functions and activities surrounding project management, project portfolio management, major initiatives, communications, and utilizing effective processes across the division. Manages a staff responsible for project planning and business process improvement. Represents projects, major initiatives, and divisional communications on the ITS leadership team which is accountable for coordinating ITS planning and communications, as well as administrative, tactical, and strategic decision-making.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Provide leadership, supervision, and direction to Project and Process teams

  • Perform planning function; lead the process of setting goals, objectives for department
  • Lead in the development and implementation of student data and applications related strategy and planning efforts.
  • Analyze/evaluate application solutions that support university goals and objectives.
  • Manage the Performance Assessment process; lead in the development of staff.
  • Coach and mentor staff, facilitate meetings and team building with department staff.

2. Provide leadership, vision and direction to ensure effective delivery of ITS project portfolio and project management process:

  • Coordinate with ITS peers to ensure staff resolve reported issues in a timely and effective manner.
  • Establish monitoring and service metrics to ensure that systems and support processes meet expected targets.
  • Update and refine processes as necessary to support process improvement.
  • Define and implement best practices processes for project management, portfolio management, and communications.
  • Provide effective communication between teams and the rest of ITS to ensure high quality project and initiative outcomes and reduce knowledge gaps.
  • Establish effective communication channels between team, other ITS units, and university stakeholders to ensure that ITS's project portfolio is meeting the critical needs of the campus.

3. Lead and coordinate major Initiatives for ITS

  • Provide leadership and coordination for major cross-functional ITS projects and initiatives.
  • Manage campus wide communications and coordination for major ITS initiatives and large scale projects.
  • Manage individual projects for ITS as needed.

4. Participate in the leadership of ITS as a member of the Leadership team.

5. Is proficient with and follows ITS procedures for Communication Updates, Call/incident tracking, Installation & Inventory, Knowledge Base, Communication guidelines.

6. Remains current on information about higher education and technology


QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications:

  • B.A./B.S. in a relevant field
  • Seven years of related experience to include managing relationships, deadlines, and deliverables for complex, multiple-department/college initiatives in a university environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree
  • Project management certification, (CPPM, PMP, or CAPM)
