Water Treatment Plant Technician- (Seasonal) Position Details

Status: Part-time/Temporary/Seasonal (PTS) position, non-exempt

Hours: Typically, 7:00am-3:30pm shift; may vary with staffing needs and projects

Salary: Starts at $13.00 - $16.00 per hour (depending upon qualifications). 

Location:  Water Treatment Plant

Reporting Relationship: Reports to Water Treatment Plant Supervisor and takes direction from Water Treatment Plant Maintenance Technician Lead. 

Public Works Department

The Public Works Department is comprised of Engineering, the Water Treatment Plant, Utility Field Operations, Street Maintenance, Fleet Services, and Environmental Services. The department is responsible for the environmental management, design, construction, and maintenance of the street, water, sewer, and drainage infrastructure systems in the community. 

Position Details

The Water Treatment Plant Maintenance Technician supports the Water Treatment team to effectively provide safe and high quality drinking water to the public. The Water Treatment Plant is a component of the Utilities Division which is responsible for water, sewer, and drainage infrastructure systems in the community. This position is responsible for the following areas of impact:

1)   Working with a full-time employee, assisting with mechanical systems maintenance.

2)   Maintenance and janitorial tasks within the treatment plant, including cleaning, painting, housekeeping, restocking supplies, errands and light maintenance duties.

3)   Maintenance and janitorial tasks at the well houses and other utility facilities.

4)   Monitoring and patrol for lawn watering violators. (Requires use of City vehicle)

5)   Grounds keeping tasks including watering, trimming and weed control.

6)   Office duties including: light receptionist/clerical tasks, assisting vendors, organizing and filing paperwork, assisting with maintenance documentation. 

While these areas are the primary focus of the position, we believe strongly in teamwork and employees will be called upon to perform a variety of duties as a part of their role with the City.

Position Requirements

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D) required. Valid Driver’s License.

Work Experience: Must be 18 years or older; related experience preferred.

Technical Skills: Demonstrate a strong mechanical aptitude. Candidate must also have excellent organizational skills and the ability to work both independently and within a team environment.

Physical Requirements: This position requires the ability to lift/carry/push/pull at least 30-50 lbs, operate a motor vehicle and work under all weather conditions.  Must maintain a valid driver's license.
