Administrative Assistant: Officials

The MSHSL is seeking a full-time staff member primarily responsible for supporting the administration of all of our officials programming. This position assists in customer service with officials, planning of rules meetings, handling registration, background checks, and registration and eligibility of officials. This position will also serve to provide significant user support within the office and for our many officials and our member schools.  The MSHSL is located in Brooklyn Center, MN and supports over 500 member schools throughout the state of MN.

Primary Responsibilities:

Oversight and Implementation of Service to Officials

  • Manage official's registration
  • Conduct and review background checks for Officials
  • Administer and monitor rules exams
  • Handle reciprocity of officials
  • Monitor, review, and implement evaluations of programming and officials
  • Service award management
  • Support all state tournament official's selection meetings
  • Support officials training clinics

User Assistance and Support

  • Work with external users to troubleshoot issues
  • User training/assistance with internal applications 
  • Enhance skills of end users through individual or group training

Office Support Tasks

  • Process orders for sport specific officiating materials.
  • Assist with all school mailings.
  • Assist with compiling materials for clinicians.
  • Assist with telephone attendant console coverage.
  • Assist other staff members with projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite – Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint
  • Skills in managing data bases and use of mail merge
  • Strong organizational skills, effective time management, and proven ability to manage several projects concurrently
  • Applicants need to be able to work both independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education or Training beyond a High School Diploma
  • Understanding of the MSHSL, sponsored activities and athletics, and officiating.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and advance the use of technology
  • Open to new challenges and a commitment to high quality performance
  • Evidence of a team centered approach and exemplary interpersonal skills
  • Skills in troubleshooting and solution-based approaches

Fulltime position beginning on or after March 4, 2019

Candidates must pass a criminal background check in order to be eligible for employment.
