Park Boundary Technician - Seasonal Position Details

Status: Part-time/Temporary/Seasonal (PTS), non-exempt

Salary: Starts at $13.50 - $16.50 per hour (depending on qualifications)

Location:Maintenance Facility (15150 Technology Drive, Eden Prairie, MN 55344)

Hours: Standard business hours (7am–3:30pm), may vary based on business need

Reporting Relationship: Reports to Parks & Natural Resources Manager

 

Park & Natural Resources

The Parks and Natural Resources Division is responsible for providing the citizens and users of the City’s park system with safe, properly maintained, and high quality facilities. The Division is responsible for developing and maintaining the park and open space system with facilities that meet the community needs. Wildlife, forestry and natural resources management are a top priority of this division.

Position Details

The Park Boundary Technician supports the division by evaluating, verifying, and resolving parks and open-space issues through conducting surveys and communicating with residents. The primary position responsibilities and areas of impact are:

 1)   Evaluates City Park and open space/private property interface boundary issues; reviews lot surveys and utilizes surveying and mobile GIS equipment to determine boundaries.

2)   Compiles information and communicates City Park and open space property adjustments to supervisor; follows guidelines for rectifying violation issues that will be conducive for property owner and the City.

3)   Provides information and consults with residents regarding public-private property interfaces related to park and open-space; conducts violation follow-up visits.

4)   Compiles information, documenting findings, adjustments, and outcomes to share with residents or future action.

5)   Must maintain driver’s license and have own transportation for the job (mileage reimbursement).

While these areas are the primary focus of the position, we believe strongly in teamwork and employees will be called upon to perform a variety of duties as a part of their role with the City.

Position Requirements

Education: High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.); working towards Associate's or Bachelor’s of Science Degree in GIS, geography, environmental studies or related field preferred.

Work Experience: 1-2 years working with others in a professional setting preferred. 

Technical Skills: MS Office (Word, Excel).

Physical Requirements: This position requires the ability to lift/pull/push/move/carry up to 50 lbs, and the ability to bend/stand/reach.
