President/Chief Executive Officer

The United Way Board of Directors is in search of a President/Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The President/CEO provides innovative, collaborative leadership for the United Way in in developing financial resources and in identifying and responding to community health and human service priorities.

The President/CEO is responsible for leading, managing, and administering all aspects of the organization, including:

• Directing and growing fund raising campaigns
• Coordinating board of directors’ activities
• Directing and encouraging development efforts
• Building relationships
• Communicating effectively with all stakeholders
• Serving on appropriate community groups and organizations
• Championing the organization’s mission of reducing poverty
• Providing strategic planning and administrative guidance

The position requires a demonstrated ability to think and act strategically, proven track record in fundraising, project management, and operational/fiscal management, familiarity with economic and community development issues; experience with staff, team and leadership development; exceptionally strong public speaking and communication skills along with relationship management skills. The desired candidate exhibits passion, ability to engage and motivate employees and groups, and manages relationships effectively and presents oneself in an appropriate and professional manner. The candidate also demonstrates their ability to be a creative and innovative thinker and open minded to different opinions.

A qualified candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Human Services, Public Relations/Communications, or Public Administration. A Master’s degree and experience working with the nonprofit sector is preferred along with demonstrated ability. A minimum of five years’ experience at the executive/senior level desired.
