DOT Compliance Lead
Description: Job Title: Lead Dangerous Goods Program ManagerDept.: Legal Affairs, CC&EPRIMARY FUNCTIONThe Lead Dangerous Goods Program Manager directs and oversees the
Department of Transportation (DOT) compliance program. This position
collaborates with business leaders to develop DOT program strategies to comply
with domestic ground, oversea, and air shipments.In addition, this position will provide
direction on regulatory inspection responses and routinely interact with
government agencies. This position serves as a subject matter expert on DOT,
International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG), and International Air
Transportation Association (IATA) compliance regulations and program
strategies.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESLeads the program
for managing day-to-day compliance with DOT shipping requirements.Develops the compliance strategy for
enterprise-wide DOT shipping requirements and programsProvides direction on escalated transportation
or shipping issuesMaintains a deep knowledge of DOT, IMDG,
and IATA regulations and program strategiesInforms relevant business partners on transportation
and shipping compliance risksDirects responses to regulatory
inspections and other enforcement activityProvides subject matter expertise for transportation
and shipping regulationsDevelops and maintain training strategies
to meet transportation and shipping requirementsPrioritizes transportation and shipping
obligations and directs resources for successful outcomesLeads cross functional teams in the
development and execution of short and long term compliance solutionsOwns the budgeting process, which may
include managing an annual expense budgetLeads the development of sustainable best
practices for transportation and shipping compliance managementParticipates in trade associations to
understand industry trends and to gather insight on best management practicesREPORTING/WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:Reports to the Director, Corporate
ComplianceInternally,
establishes and maintains working relationships with business leaders to
achieve compliance objectivesExternally, establishes and maintains
working relationships with consultants and leads interactions and discussions
with regulatory agenciesJOB REQUIREMENTSMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:BA/BS college degree, preferably in
environmental sciences, engineering, chemistry, safety, or related fieldMinimum 5 years relevant experience in transportation
and shipping complianceExpert in DOT compliance regulationsFamiliarity in IMDG, IATA, and United
States Postal Service (USPS) shipping and compliance regulations.Experience translating laws, rules, and
regulations to business teamsStrong critical thinker and
problem-solving skillsAbility to influence others and build
consensusDemonstrated ability to build
relationships, manage conflict and act with urgency.Knowledge of computer software programs
including Microsoft Office Suite of ApplicationsExcellent written and verbal
communication skillsSome travel required on a project by
project basisDESIRED REQUIREMENTS:Certified Dangerous Goods Professional
(CDGP) CertificationCertified Hazardous Materials Manager
(CHMM) Certification
