Description:
About us:
Target is an iconic brand, a Fortune 50 company and one of America's leading retailers

.

Target's distinctive brand love is infused throughout its many physical locations by the Properties teams. We have a direct and positive impact on the real estate, design, construction and maintenance of our stores, distribution centers and headquarters. Are you ready to help strategically grow Target's brand through leading-edge design, development, construction and preservation? Can you effectively balance the efficiencies of a large-design build company with the unique challenges and innovative solutions required by individual sites? Then take your place on one of our Properties teams, and help us make the most of Target's physical assets, both in the U.S. and overseas.

A role in Store Design means the opportunity to apply your innovative and sustainable architectural design and technical expertise. Your work will help define the physical experience and evolve the brand image in stores and in support of Target business strategies. You'll interpret program and scope details to integrate them with the site design and aesthetic, including new stores inside and out, exteriors and interiors, small flex formats, remodels and innovation projects.

As a Lead Designer, you'll help leverage your innovative thinking and strong point of view to influence and deliver the physical environments to enable a superior guest experience.  In this role you'll utilize excellent communication, leadership and interpersonal skills with cross functional teams to drive and develop functional designs as well as develop and maintain technical design specifications in partnership with the design team and our vendor community.  With laser focus on technical development, you will provide expertise, direction, and coaching to a team of designers that helps elevate the level of knowledge across the team, while delivering best in class designs that are sustainable in a large environment.  You'll need the ability to influence without authority with a strong executive presence  as you work cross functionally with Construction, Architecture, Engineering, Merchandising, Marketing, Finance, Sourcing & Procurement along with other Target Properties team members.  Working with our vendor community, you will ensure cost effective and high quality development of design alongside our vendor community to ensure cost effective and high quality development of designs.  You will work with Target's manufacturing vendors to develop best practices around quality assurance processes that are obtainable and scalable.  In addition, you will be responsible for research and partnership, focused on new development and/or trends (internally and globally) that allow for enabling “systems” outside of standard customization.

About You:

  • 4 year degree (Industrial Design/Engineering)
  • 8-10 years in relevant work experience
  • Proficiency in CAD/Sketchup, or rendering programs
  • Outstanding technical skills stemming from experience in engineering and/or manufacturing
  • Experience with basic materials and core manufacturing processes
  • Effective drawing skills adequate to developing preliminary solutions for design problems
