JOB SUMMARY

This position exists primarily to provide technical and operational support for Student Data Services. This position serves as a primary expert and technological specialist responsible to manage student data in such a way as to ensure data integrity and data access within Student Data Services in relation all aspects of student data and includes the following key tasks:

  • Ensure the validity and integrity of the data that are flowing into and out of the institutional data systems.
  • Analyze, translate, enter and load student data and documentation into a variety of systems utilizing multiple technologies.
  • Create and review list and summary reports about students and their admission, financial aid and student activities including error reporting.
  • Evaluate and suggest opportunities for improvement both technologically and procedurally.
  • Document and communicate procedural elements of the movement and protection of student data.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Ensure the validity and integrity of the data that are flowing into and out of the institutional data systems:

  • Establish and manage processes for inputs into university data systems.
  • Analyze, translate, enter and load student data and documentation.
  • Supervise and train others on entry, loading, scanning and updating of student data into university systems.
  • Coordinate and supervise the scanning and indexing of student documents and files into university document imaging and storage solutions.
  • Ensure that student information input and maintenance concurs with established data standards.
    • Provide continual review of all activities of data process team.
    • Review data error reports and resolve data errors.
    • Collaborate with all student data users to ensure data accuracy across campus.

2. Provide data reporting services:

  • Assist in the identification, development, and delivery of a comprehensive reporting system that supports data integrity efforts and administrative decision making.
    • Write and distribute reports of data from university systems to support data management and integrity.
    • For reports and scripts that require advanced programming, collaborate need fulfillment from system analyst team.

3. Document and communicate data process procedures:

  • Create and maintain documentation for all student data and document input, workflow, maintenance and verification procedures.
  • Create and maintain training documentation for data process analyst team including student interns and student workers.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, data analytics, or a related field
  • Two years of professional level experience providing information systems customer support, particularly in data management, report writing, and data analysis
  • Professional level experience to include the following technical skills:
    • Working with student information systems and databases, including ERP and imaging solutions
    • Experience with data input, translation, querying, and document management

An equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills have been acquired may be substituted.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience working with at least two of the following applications:
    • Ellucian Banner
    • Salesforce
    • Optix
    • Cognos ReportNet
    • Appworx
    • SQL or similar tools for managing data and documents, automation, and reporting.
