The Office of Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison is hiring a digital media specialist.  The digital media specialist will expand the tools and reach of the work of the Attorney General’s Office to educate Minnesotans about their rights as consumers and people, and help people afford their lives and live with dignity and respect.  The successful applicant will have experience in and a passion for telling public-interest stories and driving public narrative through digital media, an appreciation for how digital and other media and story-telling vehicles complement each other, and a belief in the power of public engagement, education, and public policy to improve people’s lives.

Duties

·Design, produce, and distribute short videos for public education

· Evaluate and make recommendations about video hardware, accessories, and software  

· Design and distribute compelling, shareable graphics for public education

·Build social-media reach, audience, and engagement across platforms,  especially to people in Greater Minnesota

· Consult on functionality, design, and user interface of external website and intranet

·Assist in media relations

· Support public events

· Work quickly and collaboratively in fast-paced environment

· Take direction, change gears on short notice

· Plan own work and suggest new projects

· Offer creative advice and perspective

Required experience

· Video production, editing, distribution

· Graphics design and production

· Social-media management and engagement for organization or public

·  Public engagement, education, and advocacy in diverse communities

Preferred experience

· Media relations

· Event building and promotion
