A role in the Finance Ops calls on your skills for quality financial and inventory reporting and accurate financials and technical accounting while providing thoughtful and responsive support, expertise and guidance to business partners. Your role will be critical to ensuring the success of Target's business initiatives and core retail operations.

As a Sr Payroll Tax Reporting Specialist, you will prepare payroll tax reporting and remittances for Target and related entities.Ensure accuracy of tax reporting, withholding, and deposits.In a collaborative environment, you will serve as a federal, state and local withholding tax subject matter expert to team members, HR and HQ departments.Research and remedy problems/discrepancies with assigned taxing authorities.

·Prepare payroll tax returns and remittances (federal, state, and local jurisdictions)

·Ensure payroll tax payments are timely, accurate, and in compliance with appropriate regulations/requirements

·Reconcile various payroll reports and makes adjustments needed to ensure that amounts are correctly reported in the payroll system, on payroll tax returns, and in data files sent to third parties

·Review and coordinate the resolution of all payroll tax notices working directly various agencies (federal, state, and local jurisdictions)

·Request and negotiate abatement of tax penalties

·Track status of tax inquiries through resolution and review with Payroll Management

·Record and track tax refunds

·Request tax payments for adjustments as needed

·Audit employees' tax setup to ensure compliance with state tax rules and coordinate corrections with Payroll Management

·Lead and coordinate year-end, balancing wages, and timely processing for accurate employee W-2's

·Review SUI tax rates for accuracy and update payroll system

·Utilize available resources to stay current on all areas of payroll tax law applicable

·Complete labor statistical reports such as census and multiple work site reports

·Register for new state and local tax IDs

·Provide guidance on taxation of wages to Payroll Processing team, partners and team members

·Ad hoc projects and assistance with other tasks/duties across the Payroll team as required

About you

Minimum Requirements:

·High school degree with 3 to 5 years of applicable work experience or 2 year degree with 2 or more years of applicable work experience

·Ability to work in both a team and individual environment

·Strong knowledge of wage and hour law, multi-state payroll, and IRS Federal, State and Local wage and tax regulations and reporting requirements

·Excellent communication and customer service skills

·Adherance to strict confidentiality guidelines

·Advanced Excel knowledge

·Effective project management skills, including the ability to prioritize workload

·Demonstrated strong analytical and problem solving skills

·Strong attention to detail and deadlines

DESIRED:

·BA/BS degree in HR, Finance or business-related field with 2 or more years of applicable work experience

·Knowledgeable in Workday and MasterTax

·Target Payroll or HR experience

·Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) Certification
