Description: Divisional Planning, Meat & Fresh Prepared
About us:
Target is an iconic brand, a Fortune 50 company and one of America's leading retailers.
Target Merchandising is evolving at an incredible pace. We are constantly reimagining how this $70 billion retailer offers the innovative, guest-inspiring items that Target is known and loved for. Our goal is to deliver exceptional value, quality and style to elevate Target as the premier retailer in a competitive global marketplace. Through intelligent and progressive business strategies that make the most of Target's resources and partnerships worldwide, Merchandising works across product categories to create a localized shopping experience online and in our 1800 stores. Are you a creative problem solver who loves to see your work translate into real results? Can you collaborate effectively, execute a plan efficiently and positively influence how Target chooses and presents the right product in the right place at the right price? If so, you will have success on one of our dynamic teams. A role in Planning means being in charge of the financials and forecasting for one of Target's businesses. Here, you'll conduct comparative analysis of holiday or other seasonal performance reports and provide the insights that inform the Inventory team's work to ensure that product supports projected sales. Acting as the hub between Merchandising and Supply Chain, you will create a financial link between these two essential groups and have a voice in some of the most important decisions from a financial strategy standpoint. In this role, you will be the primary Principal in leading the coordination of the transformation of both our financial metrics and business management/forecast processes for the Planning Organization. In close partnership with Merch Finance, Merch Capabilities and the Merch Roundtable, you will take on the key coordination of developing a program plan for the simplification of existing Forecast routines and establishing the program and learning plan for the successful transition from Retail to Cost Accounting. As a Divisional Planning, you will drive informed perspective/recommendations on critical business decisions for large sized businesses; often consisting of a variety of category role designations in collaboration with Cross Functional Team (CFT) leaders (e.g. Divisional Merchandising, MFA Director). You will champion experiences for our guests that ensure differentiated shopping experiences in alignment with Target's purpose to help all families discover the joy of everyday life, while concurrently acting as an agent of Target's Shareholders by ensuring a balanced approach to managing our business. You will develop a consolidated view of the in-season recommendations put forward by departments, and drive go-forward decision making. You will conduct forecast reconciliation with the Merchandising Divisional. You will translate pyramid and divisional financials into merchandise targets such as SKU count, across departments and drive consensus among Planners. You will cultivate an environment where the Planning team is encouraged to drive insights and recommendations (vs just providing data) and have the confidence to defend what is right for the business. You will provide hands-on apprenticeship to Planners and Inventory Managers and support cross-functional exposure to ensure a planning skill set is built. You will maintain financial accountability for the assortment, in partnership with Merchandising Divisional. You will provide policies for assortment strategy (e.g. SKU counts & metrics) and ensure resulting assortment plan fits with operational and financial considerations. You will leverage key partnerships, both internal and external, to ensure well informed financial plans. You will translate Divisional financials into operational targets across departments and drive consensus among Category Managers. You will drive development and execution of positioning recommendations with the Inventory Management team, manage decisions on flow and positioning for initial sets & events, and be the “face of the field” to stores and supply chain for the category.
