Then you'll have success on our Design team who owns the design and development of all Target-owned brands, from apparel to home goods, and beauty to essentials. In close partnership with our merchant and sourcing counterparts, you'll drive brand cohesion and continuity, ensuring that our products meet the merchant line plans, assortment strategies, price points and overall creative direction.

As a Designer, you will support and be accountable for Owned Brand product brands and/or categories that achieve overall product design strategy and merchant objectives. Under the overall direction of Design leadership, you will work with an assigned category, brand, business or guest segment and manage your own process and calendar. You will be expected to maintain a diligent approach to workload, with includes good, timely communication with internal and external partners. You'll support and drive concepts throughout the development process, research, selection of materials/finishes, and the creation of silhouettes/form language. Using CAD/hand sketches, you'll translate ideas for product direction. This includes preparing professional presentation boards with illustrations, CAD artwork, fabrication, and material samples. In addition, you will support and drive product designs to maintain overall creative direction, merchant line plans, assortment strategies, and price points. You'll build brand cohesion by partnering with peers across the division to ensure continuity. In collaboration with technical designers/engineers and sourcing partners, you'll also identify, troubleshoot and resolve product issues.
Develops and executes Ava & Viv, our extended size brand, Product Design and Development with direction from Design Director to achieve overall product design strategy and merchant objectives. Responsible for designing woven top's, bottoms, jackets and dresses. Must have proficiency/expertise in product design & development for women's woven categories. Must be passionate about the plus guest and take an innovative approach to everyday wearing solutions so our guests feel her most confident.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Diligent approach to workload, maintaining excellent, timely communication with internal and external partners
  • Contribute to product, brand, trend and guest research within owned category
  • Strong design voice and shop markets to identify/inform category, brand, business or guest segment trends
  • Collaborate with Design Director and team to execute concepts, color stories and develop appropriate fabrics/ trims
  • Contribute to and may participate in professional presentations to Directors/VPs within the PD&D team
  • Own brand cohesion; partner with peers across the division to ensure continuity
  • Support merchant line plans, assortment strategies, price points
  • Partner with technical designers to develop and innovate fit and construction solutions/details within category 
  • Development and execution of trim, embellishment, hardware packages within category
  • Ensures design direction remains intact from concept throughout production process
  • Collaborate with Tech Design and Sourcing team to identify, troubleshoot and resolve production issues 
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • 4 year Design, Fine Art, or similar degree
  • 4-8 years of experience - Designer level
  • Computer design system skills including Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Demonstrated high taste level and creative ability
  • Understanding of textiles, garment construction/fit or raw materials & product production
  • Commercial sense, market knowledge, ability to research and apply market/trend information
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to successfully work in a team environment
  • Knowledge of product development processes
