Job Description:

Accounting
Job Summary:
Directs the preparation, establishment, and maintenance of the organization's financial statements, financial reports, and the general ledger according to prescribed accounting and fiscal principles and practices. Directs general accounting, retail revenue accounting, accounts receivable, and accounts payable. Evaluates operating results in terms of financial trends and increased operational efficiencies.
Budget/Asset Responsibilities:
Develops accounting and accounts payable departmental budgets.
Job Duties:
- Manages staff and functions of corporate accounting, accounts payable, and retail audit. Assigns tasks and monitors processes to ensure compliance with GAAP and other pertinent regulations.
- Coordinates the monthly financial closing process. Ensures that all entries and accrual calculations are included in the financial reports; reviews financial data to ensure accuracy and proper classification. Generates and distributes financial reports to management and Board of Directors. Considerable knowledge and analysis of company operations is required to provide accurate reporting.
- Maintains company's system of accounts and records of all company transactions and assets. Responsible for the company's chart of accounts, fixed asset system, and capital reporting process.
- Recruits, interviews, selects, hires, and promotes team members. This includes team member training and development. Completes performance appraisals on direct reports; conducts disciplinary and discharge actions.
- Monitors daily cash activity and general cash management to ensure the company maintains the optimum investment levels. Oversees bank balances.
- Manages accounts receivable process to accelerate cash receipts.
- Manages accounts payable to ensure proper cash disbursements.
- Prepares and distributes monthly and quarterly variance analyses

Requirements:
- Combination of post-secondary education and experience to equal seven years in business or related field with at least three years supervisory/management experience.
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, FASB, and other laws and regulations pertaining to financial accounting.
- Knowledge and experience in a computerized accounting and financial reporting environment.
- Working knowledge of budget preparation and analysis.
- Proficiency in word-processing, spreadsheets and presentations.
