Position Details

Status:  Part-time/Temporary/Seasonal, non-exempt

Salary:  Starts at $14.00 to $16.00 per hour

Hours: primarily 8am-10:30pm Saturday and Sunday, with occasional 5-10:30pm weekday evenings; may vary based on business need. Shifts are approximately 4-6 hours in length and are scheduled in advance (one or two shifts per week).

Location: Eden Prairie Community Center

Reporting Relationship:  Reports to Recreation Supervisors and Community Center Manager

Community Center Division

The Community Center Division of the Park and Recreation department has the responsibility for managing the Eden Prairie Community Center, Oak Point Pool, City beaches and Park Facility Rental. Division team provides a variety of affordable recreation programs and services for all age groups and all abilities. This division is also responsible for providing support to department Recreation Supervisors and the programs they manage.

Position Responsibilities

The Community Center Support Coordinator position support the Community Center by welcoming and assisting customers and ensuring that all internal and external services are provided in a friendly, efficient and effective manner. The primary position responsibilities and areas of impact are: 

  1. Monitors the Community Center facility and grounds, providing a safe, friendly and enjoyable environment for all users; supports other part-time building staff including concessions, ice rinks, aquatics, child care, maintenance and office as required.
  2. Monitors all activities throughout the building to ensure safety compliance by all users; connects as the point person with all staff and user groups throughout their shift; addressing various check points and acting accordingly.
  3. Communicates effectively to part-time staff regarding events and needs throughout the building.
  4. Provides updates to Recreation Supervisors and Program Leads as needed.
  5. Orchestrates emergency response for the building while on duty. Working with the front desk in contacting emergency services, directing emergency services once they arrive; ensuring safety of staff, participants, and the facility during emergency situations; following up with proper emergency reporting after each situation.
  6. Provides excellent customer service to all patrons and employees of the Community Center; while also enforcing and following through on Community Center policies and guidelines.
  7. Performs light maintenance such as meeting set up, take downs, and collaborates with our Facilities division; assists with sharpening skates and skate rentals; monitors building equipment.

While these areas are the primary focus of the position, we believe strongly in teamwork and employees will be called upon to perform a variety of duties as a part of their role with the City.

Position Requirements

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; CPR and First Aid certification and 2 years higher education preferred.

Work Experience: Minimum of two years’ experience in customer service; previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred. Facility management experience preferred.

Technical Skills: Experience accessing web based computer programs required.

Physical Requirements: This position requires the ability to lift/pull/push/move/carry up to 50 lbs frequently, 50-100lbs occasionally, and over 100 lbs on a limited basis; and the ability to bend/stand/reach.
