Introduction:

Shipping/Receiving personnel process and record all goods shipped and received. Their duties include but are not limited to: counting and packing parts for shipment to the customer and/or storage in finished goods; maintaining inventory; loading and unloading cars, vans, trucks; coordinating inbound and outbound freight to customers and suppliers using UPS, FedEx, LTL, couriers, etc.; maintaining and ordering shipping supplies; sending advance shipping notices to customers; assisting shipping personnel at 3 other corporate facilities; correcting errors and irregularities; and assisting other team members in the organization’s general operation.

Job Requirements:

  • Must work safely
  • Must have good attendance and punctuality
  • Must follow instructions precisely
  • Must have a minimum of high school graduate level math, reading, and writing skills
  • Must have good communication skills, the ability to work in teams, and be receptive to training
  • Must be able to work in a standing position and routinely lift and carry 40 lbs. unaided
  • Must have good manual dexterity and work quickly but safely
  • Must be able to fill out required documentation correctly, completely, and legibly
  • Must count accurately, be detail-oriented, and be highly organized

Job Skills, Tasks and Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Effectively package loose components densely
  • Package items carefully to avoid spoilage or damage in storage
  • Strive to continually improve safety, quality, and productivity
  • Determine appropriate packaging requirements to protect product depending on shipping method
  • Use ERP computing software, label makers, printers, and other devices
  • Enter data and process receipts, issues, purchase orders and packing slips
  • Operate industrial forklift and maintain certification
  • Maintain good driving record and valid license to operate a car/pickup truck
  • Bag, box, palletize, strap, wrap, staple, tape, as well as use a pallet jack, 2- & 4-wheel carts, etc.
  • Prioritize and coordinate daily shipments
  • Communicate with customers utilizing good customer service skills
  • Communicate with vendors and perform expediting
  • Control and maintain inventory
  • Provide good housekeeping of work spaces
  • Use efficient (Lean) operation practices and continual improvement
  • Perform additional tasks related to light manufacturing and facility maintenance as appropriate
