CommonBond has an opening for a combined Advantage Services and Youth Program Specialist position at a large family site in St. Paul.
School year hours: Monday-Thursday 10:00-6:30, Summer hours: 9:00-5:30 (32 hours a week plus benefits)
The Advantage Services Specialist portion of the position is typically in the mornings, providing outreach to residents, assisting in connecting residents with community resources, assisting residents with one-on-one social service needs, and also supporting daily logistical operations of the Advantage Center through office management, reception, and program support and monitoring. The afternoon responsibilities are with the Youth Program team as a Youth Program Specialist, implementing youth mentoring and homework help programs for K-6th graders.
Bilingual in Oromo, Amharic, or Somali strongly preferred.

Advantage Services Specialist
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND ASSOCIATED TASKS
• Provide individual services in consultation with the Services Coordinator to meet the needs of residents.
• Provide education and support to help residents understand housing-related policies and procedures and maintain lease compliance.
• Provide information and referrals to help residents connect with community resources.
• Assist residents to complete paperwork required to access services or maintain lease compliance.
• Maintain accurate, timely and detailed documentation on client work in accordance with outlined procedures.
• Promote positive resident and community involvement in Advantage Center activities and services
• Develop and maintain positive relations with residents and community service providers.

Youth Program Specialist
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND ASSOCIATED TASKS
• Plan engaging enrichment activities for small groups of youth.
• Identify and implement Reading and Math activities to meet individual youth academic needs.
• Provide homework assistance and academic support to youth during after-school hours, including one to one and small group tutoring/mentoring
• Assist in designing, implementing and managing school release day and summer programming for youth in kindergarten through sixth grade.
• Organize and maintain materials needed for all youth activities, including snacks, games, books, software, etc.
• Maintain accurate records and enter data into online database to reflect daily attendance and program content.
• Participate in youth program staff meetings and trainings
• Work collaboratively with the site Advantage Services team.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Must be at least 18 years of age to apply.
• High level of organization and time management skills.
• Be Certified in CPR and First Aid or have the ability to become certified within six months of starting position.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
• Utilize electronic calendars and scheduling
• Ability to tutor youth with kindergarten through 6th grade levels of homework.
• Experience working in education, youth development, human services or social services.
• Ability to utilize Microsoft Office Software programs including Word and Excel.
• Ability to work effectively with people with limited English skills.
