PROJECT MANAGEMENT OFFICE (PMO) MANAGER

Position Description

This position is responsible to provide administrative and people management for the enterprise Project Management Office. This includes ensuring the maintenance of the standards of enterprise project management and processes including the Project Execution Process (PEP). The Manager will oversee project managers to ensure department, program and project goals are achieved.

• Manage Project Managers, with a dotted line to their Program Manager, ensuring project deliverables are achieved.

• Manage contingent workforce engaged in a matrix reporting structure including timecard, attendance, invoicing oversight and other relevant duties.

• Partner with other leaders to foster a workplace culture of continuous process improvement. Drive program and project change management efforts to increase acceptance of project improvement initiatives.

• Support the execution of the PMO department and engagement plans.

• Track and report on project portfolio performance to ensure projects are executed in accordance with business needs.

• Serve as PMO Service Portal liaison ensuring needed functionality is maintained and ongoing development aligns with portfolio needs.

• Ensure rigor around a common set of practices, principles, templates and methodologies for managing projects (including projects managed outside the PMO), and ensure standards are being followed.

• Advise and assist business leaders and teams on the best use of project management disciplines and approaches. Share best practices and lessons learned across programs and projects. Advocate for best practices in project management.

• Support resourcing strategies, staff allocations and support for cost-effective, quality project management efforts.

• Manage new hire orientation. Meet with staff on a regular basis to assign and monitor project success, and support development.

• Other projects and duties as assigned.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in business administration or a related field required. PMI or related certification (or equivalent training) required.

Required Experience

Eight years of project management experience, including at least three years leading a PMO or work team. Experience leading complex, multi-year enterprise-wide programs.

Preferred Experience

Experience working in both enterprise and technology-focused PMOs, preferably in a health care setting. Experience leading end-to-end process improvement efforts preferred. Expertise in Agile project management methodologies.
