Join the Agile and Engineering Enablement team as a Principal Engineer where you will set the technical strategy and direction for Engineering, Agile, and Product Tools at Target. The team blends ops and application development, with a wide variety of work and technologies leveraged.

The Engineering Enablement team provides the DevOps pipeline tools that support how thousands of engineers at Target collaborate, build, store, and deploy software. This includes the deployment and configuration of industry leading, continuous integration, code repository, binary repository, and system configuration tools as well as custom coding APIs and applications. The current toolset includes Artifactory, Drone, GitHub Enterprise, Jenkins, and Chef.

The Agile Enablement team provides the community of Agile & Product teams the work backlog, idea management, content, and chat tools to collaborate, and deliver awesome products. This includes the deployment and configuration of industry leading tools, as well as custom coding APIs and applications. The current toolset includes Slack, Jira, Confluence, Mural, and Waffle.

- Guide engineering teams on best practices

- Influence company-wide technology usage

- Develop tools used across the enterprise to make software engineering a joy

- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance on a wide variety of topics

- Participate in innovative proof of concept projects

- Be a strong advocate of agile and DevOps practices

- Collaborate with engineering teams across Target to set technical direction and drive lifecycle management decisions

- Operationalize industry leading packaged tools

- Oversee maintenance, troubleshooting, and solution developing

Preferred Experience:

- Programming language polyglot: Java, SQL, noSQL, Python, Ruby, Go, Rust, and more

- Infrastructure as Code: Chef, Ansible, Terraform, Packer

- Cloud Experience: Kubernetes, OpenStack, GCP

- CI/CD: GitHub, Drone, Jenkins

- Testing: Gatling, Selenium, K6, unit testing, functional testing, integration testing

- Linux administration: command line, network

- Security: static code analysis, PKI, firewalls

- Open/Inner Source: Working with existing community projects, starting new efforts

Requirements:

- 4 year degree or equivalent experience. Continuing education to maintain thorough knowledge of technical domains along with staying current in latest technologies

- 12+ years of experience in technology development or services

- 4+ years of experience in strategic planning and setting technical direction

- Has demonstrated success in solving complex technical problems in more than one technical or functional area

- Has proven leadership capabilities, the ability to influence others, interpersonal skills, and problem solving skills

- Strong team player who understands concepts of teamwork and team effectiveness.

- Has excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills to convey complex technical solutions clearly to an organization

- Has excellent planning and organizational skills.
