Street Maintenance Right-of-Way Mowing  Operator- (Seasonal)

Status: Part-time/Temporary/Seasonal (PTS) position, non-exempt

Hours: Typically, 7:00am-3:30pm shift; occasional overtime may be required.

Salary: Starts at $13.00 - $16.00 per hour (depending upon qualifications).

Location:  Maintenance Facility Building

Reporting Relationship: Reports to Street Maintenance Manager

Public Works Department

The Public Works Department is comprised of Engineering, the Water Treatment Plant, Utility Field Operations, Street Maintenance, Fleet Services, and Environmental Services. The department is responsible for the environmental management, design, construction, and maintenance of the street, water, sewer, and drainage infrastructure systems in the community. 

Position Details

Responsibilities include mowing, weed whipping, tree trimming, sight line clearing, turf restoration and assisting with weed control of roadsides, storm water ponds and center medians.
Other maintenance activities may include occasional patching, concrete repair, sign repair and traffic control. This position is responsible for the following areas of impact:

1) Mowing of the City, County and State right-of-way including some trails. Uses strong mechanical aptitude to perform a variety of maintenance activities (i.e. using hand, power and heavy equipment including mowers, weed whips, debris blower, pickups w/trailers, trucks, air tools, and rollers).
2) Demonstrates safe operation and maintenance of equipment (i.e. sharping and replacing of mower blades. Cleaning and greasing of mowers).
3) Practices safe work habits in and around traffic on all streets.
4) Position requires employee to have and maintain minimum of a Class D Driver’s License.
5) Employees performing job duties that require a CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) must maintain this license and an excellent driving record.

While these areas are the primary focus of the position, we believe strongly in teamwork and employees will be called upon to perform a variety of duties as a part of their role with the City.

Position Requirements

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D) required. Valid Driver’s License.

Work Experience: Must be 18 years or older; related experience preferred.

Physical Requirements: This position requires the ability to lift/carry/push/pull at least 30-50 lbs, operate a motor vehicle and work under all weather conditions.
