    Adult Basic Ed Literacy Assistant
    Location:  Adult Education Center- Columbia Heights/Fridley, 4111 Central Ave NE, Columbia Heights

    Part-Time  12 months/ 133 days/4 hrs a day
    Schedule:  Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday evenings; 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm

    Duties:  Support adult learners in the areas of reading, math, and English language skills in intermediate and advanced ESL classes and pre GED/GED prep classes, under the guidance of a licensed teacher.  Assist classrooms with progress testing on the TABE 11/12, DRA (Diagnostic Reading Assessment), and other tests, as needed.  Monitor student attendance; conduct student attendance follow up; complete student data and record keeping; and support volunteers.  Training is provided on adminstering the tests.  Other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications:  High school diploma or equivalent.  Strong communication and organizational skills.  Ability to be flexible and function well in a busy and ethnically and culturally diverse population environment.   

    Preferred Qualifications:  Experience working in an ABE academic program preferred.  Experience working with diverse populations, ESL learners, and adult learners preferred. Experience with technology preferred.  BA/BS degree preferred.  Bilingual skills a plus.  Experience and comfort with basic math skills preferred. 

    Rate of pay:  $13.82/hour.

    Start Date:  ASAP after closing.
