This team is responsible for developing optimization, simulation, machine learning models and niche data science techniques to evaluate product flow from vendor to distribution center, across the first mile, middle mile and last mile, with focus on delivery speed, ensuring sufficient capacity for throughput and storage (inventory modeling) in the network and improve operating efficiencies both within 4 walls of distribution center and across the network. A team member in this role will leverage different techniques, such as Linear programming, mixed integer programming, clustering, Monte Carlo simulation, discrete event simulation, regression, random forest, SVM's and other machine learning techniques along with advanced statistical skills and also collaborate with stake holders across product, technology and business teams to transform Target's Supply chain.

Primary Responsibilities
  1. Develop an understanding of Target supply chain data and gather and analyze the same to understand the current state of Target's supply chain
  2. Identify underlying patterns and business opportunities within the data
  3. Development of optimization, simulation models and different algorithms to evaluate variety of business opportunities across supply chain
  4. Develops custom scalable and sustainable integrated mathematical models by leveraging technical skills across Python, R, Spark, Hadoop and other big data tools and optimization solvers such as Gurobi, CBC, Cplex etc.
  5. Able to define the problem under ambiguous business considerations, gather the appropriate data, develop the models and deliver appropriate recommendations in time
  6. Define and conduct a variety experiments/different scenarios to validate/reject hypothesis and inform appropriate recommendations to stake holders
