Position Details

Status:  Part-time/Temporary/Seasonal (PTS) position, non-exempt

Hours: 

Art Center - 4:00 - 8:00 pm Tuesday evenings; 10:00 am - 3:00 pm, approximately 2 Saturdays per month; hours may vary and additional hours may be available based on business needs.  

Senior Center- Hours vary and are dependent on rental of the Senior Center; rentals may occur weekdays from 4 – 9 pm and on weekends from 8 am – 10 pm.  Monday - Friday day shifts are available upon business need.  Shifts are scheduled by the Senior Center Supervisor in coordination with staff availability on an as-needed basis.

Salary:  Starts at $10.00 to $12.50 per hour

Location: Art Center and Senior Center

Reporting Relationship: Reports to Recreation Supervisor - Art Center and Recreation Supervisor- Senior Center

Recreation Division

The Recreation Services Division has the responsibility for managing all recreation facilities and providing a variety of affordable recreation programs and services for all age groups and people of all abilities. The staff in this division are responsible for the management of facilities such as the Community Center, the Senior Center, and the Outdoor Center, as well as all other City park buildings and recreation facilities such as swimming beaches, sledding hill, amphitheater and facilities on school property that are operated in partnership with the School District such as the Oak Point Pool and tennis courts at CMS.

Position Responsibilities

Position Details

The Customer Service Representative – Art Center & Senior Center, assists with the evening and weekend facility operations including but not limited to: supervising open studio time, room set-up and take-down, clean-up, answering phones, customer service, opening and closing the building, operating the security system, and additional duties as needed. The primary position responsibilities and areas of impact are:

 1)   Provides excellent customer service at the front desk to patrons, citizens, customers, and employees of the Art Center and Senior Center, both in-person and on the phone. 

2)   Monitors open studio time at the Art Center and Senior Center facilities after regular weekday business hours and on the weekends.

3)   Ensures a clean and safe environment at the Art Center and Senior Center.

4)   Ensures building ordinances, building schedules and building amenities are maintained.

5)   Oversees safe use of equipment and supplies.

6)   Supports the Recreation division services including patron relations, registrations, reservations, meetings, events, and programs.

7)   Provides administrative support including word processing, data entry, filing, cash handling, and record management.

While these areas are the primary focus of the position, we believe strongly in teamwork and employees will be called upon to perform a variety of duties as a part of their role with the City.

 

Position Requirements

Education: High school diploma, or equivalent (G.E.D.) required; CPR and First Aid certification preferred. 

Work Experience:  Previous customer service experience required, experience in an arts setting preferred.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to frequently lift/carry/pull up to 35 lbs.; occasionally lift/carry/pull 35–75 lbs.
