Summary:
The Principal Applications Architect will lead and participate in the design and development of both a multi-user, multi-tenant, analytics centric web application using Java EE technologies and a real-time, highly available integration platform build on SpringIO. The development on the web application will require a toolset of Wildfly, Microsoft SQL Server, JPA (Hibernate), EJB 3.1, Spring Batch, and Vaadin. The integration platform is comprised of many of the technologies of the Spring IO platform (Core, Data, AMQP, Integration, MVC, etc) along with RabbitMQ and MongoDB. As new products emerge, the individual in this role will be a key stakeholder in new technology selection and design.

Major Responsibilities:
• Primary role will be to design and implement new features for existing and emerging platforms
• Establish and enforce best practices for both development and testing
• Provide technical guidance and communicate decisions to team members
• Experience leading software feature development teams
• Mentor team members
• Perform code reviews and provide meaningful feedback
• Produce necessary technical documentation.
• Performs other duties, as assigned.

Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, engineering or computer science
• 15+ years of experience in developing large scale Java EE or Spring applications
• Extensive experience with shaping and guiding product development throughout the SDLC
• Hands-on experience with MongoDB using aggregation, replication, sharding
• Experience with multi-tenant RDBMS design and implementation
• Experience in establishing and ensuring best practices with containers
• Experience with microservices including REST best practices and API-first design
• Experience using either EJB or Spring within an Application Server
• Previous experience working with the Agile/Scrum Methodology
• Experience working with Big Data
• Experience developing for performance and scalability
• Familiarity with data mining concepts, ETL processes
• Fluent in SQL and familiar with data modeling and data architecture concepts
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in using build environments using Gradle, Maven, Ant, Jenkins or similar.
• Proactive, self-directed, detail-oriented, independent worker with strong interpersonal skills
• Application security implementation using identity management systems
• Application integration technologies such as REST, Web Services, JMS
• Other technologies such as HTTP/HTTPS, FTP/SFTP, MS SQL

Preferences:
• Experience in cloud technologies
• Experience with Vaadin/GWT or Javascript frameworks

Other:
• Flexibility in work hours to manage interaction with geographically distributed employees, vendors and/or • partners
• Work is typically performed in an office environment, using simple, easy muscular movements, involving only the handling of light materials, tools, or equipment in easy work positions, and with no special speed requirements or long stretches of exertion.
• Vision requirements for this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
