Position Summary

St. Catherine University invites applications for the position of Access Consultant/Disability Specialist in Disability Resources in the O'Neill Center for Academic Development on the St. Paul campus. This 12-month position (1.0 FTE ) exists to support the O'Neill Center in its mission to provide academic support for a diverse student population. The position of Access Consultant/Disability Specialist supports the Assistant Director, Disability Resources in the delivery of academic accommodations and academic support to students with disabilities.

Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Assistant Director, Disability Resources, the Access Consultant/Disability Specialist supports the provision of a wide range of services to a large caseload of students with a variety of disabilities. The incumbent serves as a valued resource to staff and faculty and advises faculty on best practices for working with students with disabilities. Carrying out other duties as assigned, the Access Consultant/Disability Specialist works cooperatively and collaboratively with staff of the O'Neill Center and partners with faculty and staff across the university to address the learning needs of students, and to fulfill the mission of the O'Neill Center and the University.

Required Qualifications

Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Rehabilitation Counseling or related field, graduate degree preferred.
• Experience applying federal law as it pertains to individuals with disabilities.
• An understanding of a range of disabilities including but not limited to: Attention-Deficit Disorder, learning disabilities, psychiatric issues, physical and sensory disabilities, traumatic brain injury.
• Three years utilizing assistive technology related to accommodations for students with disabilities.
• Three years working with post-secondary students, especially students with a wide range of disabilities.
• Experience working with students or clients of diverse cultures and age groups.
• Ability to work well as part of a team and demonstrated ability to work effectively with faculty, administration, students and the wider community of disability service providers.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate well in speech and writing.
• Experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Lotus Notes, a web management program, and D2L. Familiarity with Microsoft OneNote, the G Suite, Kurzweil, and Livescribe preferred.
• The successful candidate must have the ability to respond respectfully and effectively to people of all cultures, in a manner that affirms the worth and preserves the dignity of individuals, families and communities.
