Summary
This position will be responsible for answering patient billing questions and proactively collecting patient balances.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities
• Proactively contact patients to collect on accounts
• Initiate payment plans to attain timely collection on all outstanding balances
• Document all patient interaction electronically being clear and consise
• Answer patient inquiries regarding monthly statements or other billing/insurance issues
• Analyze patient accounts to determine appropriate collection action
• Resolve billing issues of outstanding claims
• Investigate and resolve credit balance accounts
• Assist with patient complaints and document or initiate a Field Experience Report (FER)
• Routine follow-up to ensure patients are fullfilling their financial commitments
• Audit accounts for accuracy and resolve account discrepancies presented by patients or colleagues
• Identify process imporovements and work collaboratively to obtain approval; flow, document and communicate
• Handle outgoing calls to insurance companies or other third party payers on an as needed basis
• Conduct internal audits of HR data and makes recommendations for resolving data integrity issues
• Other duties as assigned
Education & Experience:
• Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of experience in a customer service role in medical device industry, health insurance, or related field
• Experience with patient collections preferred
Knowledge & Skills:
• Able to manage difficult or emotional situations effectively
• Detail oriented with excellent follow-up
• Able to communicate effectively and clearly with patients
• Solution, compliance and results driven
• Able to maintain medical and financial confidentiality
• Excellent problem solving skills with the ability to define, analyze and resolve issues quickly and accurately
• Strong verbal and written communications skills
• Strong documentation skills using technology for efficencies
• High attention to detail and accuracy
