JOIN US AS A Director of Last Mile Logistics and Execution

About This Opportunity

Responsible for leading the Last Mile Execution team in the management of our carrier partners performing Direct to Guest deliveries for our rapidly growing and strategically critical Digital Ecommerce channel. Leads a team of exempt team members providing developmental guidance and strategic direction as they partner with our carriers to manage execution and performance of our partners. Evaluates, recommends and implements strategies to drive performance and efficiency improvements in our unique large scale Omni-Channel fulfillment network. Works internally and externally to achieve tactical and strategic results. Builds a network of industry and professional contacts to ensure relevance with the initiatives. Represents the department in cross-pyramid initiatives with decision making and influence.

Project, Process, and Program Management
Develops and leads projects and strategies that are tied to the Supply Chain Last Mile goals and objectives which may result in network and pyramid change, process evaluation and implementation impacting how we fulfill eCommerce orders to our Guest driving speed and managing costs. Leverages their team to deliver on project objectives, ensures appropriate communication to stakeholders both within and outside of Supply Chain.

Contract and Vendor Management
Responsible for and influences contract negotiations with third party logistics providers, domestic and international providers to optimize cost, performance, service. Leads strategies to manage the performance of traditional carriers and experimental initiatives through the analysis and recommendations of their team and a deep understanding of 3rd party operations..

Logistics Strategy
As this role participates in external and professional organization work and networking this role plays a key role in analyzing and recommending solutions to optimize the Direct to Guest network. This could be through driving strong integration and efficiencies with current providers or working with internal teams to develop new Last Mile strategies.

Managing Team and Talent
Leads a team through effective goals and objectives tied to leadership goals and objectives. Coaches and develops managers to develop effective talent management and development skills. Facilitates and oversees successful strategic talent plans for both current and long term needs to meet the demands of the changing business needs. Must show demonstrated skills in developing a bench of talent, successful talent moves (lateral, promotion) and create a rich culture on the team that is representative of Target's values and aligned with the strategic roadmap.

Talent Management
Responsible for strategic talent planning and staffing of their team, provides developmental leadership and work strategy that connects to goals and objectives. Acts as a thoughtful talent leader that sources, develops and promotes talent into their team, and across the enterprise as it relates to their area of expertise to ensure the right talent profiles are built into the team to support the needs of the business.

Professional Involvement
Stays abreast of transportation industry trends as it relates to their core business including system and technology, processes, legislative changes. Creates and maintains a network with Transportation contacts and participate in Transportation trade shows and conferences. Looks at opportunities to leverage third party providers by scoping and scaling them through external partnership and networking.

Computer Usage
Uses all Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook and occasionally Project. Have familiarity with logistics software and analysis software such as JDA, Tableau and in house systems.

Consulting and Process Improvement
Serves as a Transportation representative with senior pyramid leadership, external clients and vendors to consult on and execute Transportation initiatives and supply chain processes. Influences across these pyramids and externally to ensure optimal performance and drive cost out of the supply chain.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Education Expectations: 4 year degree or equivalent
  • Job Related Experience: A minimum of 12 years experience
  • Travel Required: Occasionally:less than 20% of time
