About This Opportunity

As an engineer on the In-Store Checkout Team, you will contribute to the DevOps ecosystem optimizing all 53,000 cash registers in Target stores. In this role, primary contributions will align with the POS NEXT product. Prospective candidates will have experience in software development with eagerness to learn, while embracing the Growth Mindset. Share experiences in an Agile CI/CD environment, managing software-defined infrastructure, gathering story details, and collaborating with partner teams to develop and implement solutions in an iterative manner. Understanding cloud-ready automated application deployments is a plus.

As an engineer on the In-Store Checkout Team, you will contribute and effect change using a diverse cross section of the following technologies and skill sets:
  • One or more of the following programming languages: React, node.js, GoLang, and Java
  • Experience with relational DBs such as PostgreSQL and/or NoSQL technologies such as Casandra or MongoDB
  • Use of source control, build, test, and deployment tools such as Github, Drone, NuGet
  • Proficiency automating operational tasks in Linux/KVM and the development of Bash scripts
  • Experience with one or more config management tools such as Ansible, Puppet, Chef
  • Familiarity with Structured Prediction and Machine Learning Concepts using Technologies such as TensorFlow

As a member of an Agile team, a successful candidate will possess the following traits:
  • A confident and positive attitude while adapting to frequent change
  • Fully Participate in an Agile DevOps environment helping to resolve hardware, operational, infrastructure and application incidents escalated from support teams during on-call rotations
  • Drive problem root cause analysis through operating system and application log investigation
  • Develop enterprise visibility / proactive solutions with tools such as Kafka, Kibana, and Grafana
  • Develop automated preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and quickly resolve problems to ensure infrastructure and application stability

Requirements
  • BA/BS or equivalent experience
  • At least 2 years of relevant software development experience
  • Experience in development on Java RESTful API frontend and/or backend applications using framework such as React, Spring, Ratpack, etc.
  • Maintains technical knowledge within areas of expertise
  • Stays current with new and evolving technologies
