Position Summary

The Athletics Department at St. Catherine University invites applications for an academic year Graduate Fellow for Ice Hockey. The Graduate Fellow for Ice Hockey will assist the head coach in all aspects of running a competitive NCAA Division III ice hockey program, with a specific focus on player development and on-ice coaching. The Graduate Fellow for Ice Hockey will also actively help recruit qualified student-athletes to St. Catherine University and assist in team operations.

Terms of the fellowship:
• The Graduate Fellow must be accepted by and enrolled in a St. Catherine University graduate program that has been approved for the fellowship (contact Eric Stacey via email or at 651-690-8778 for more information). Candidates for this position do not need to be accepted at the time of application, but must know which program they will be applying to, and must be accepted by the program by the time they start the fellowship.
• The duration of the fellowship will be determined based on the length of the graduate program in which the Graduate Fellow is enrolled. This will be determined before official appointment of the Graduate Fellow.
• The Graduate Fellow must make appropriate progress toward their graduate degree and maintain good academic standing.
• The Graduate Fellow will receive full tuition grant funds to cover the cost of tuition for courses required within their graduate program. The Graduate Fellow is fully responsible for payment of all non-tuition costs, including student fees, parking fees, finance charges on unpaid balances, books/supplies, health insurance, etc.
• In addition to full tuition grant funds, the Graduate Fellow will receive an annual stipend of $5000.

• Assist the head coach with planning training and practice sessions based on the strategy and philosophy of the program.
• Perform all practice coaching responsibilities.
• Assist the head coach with game planning and coaching.
• Provide individual and group skill instruction and player development.
• Act as a positive mentor and leader in generating a positive experience for student-athletes.
• Follow MIAC and NCAA guidelines and regulations while being a positive ambassador for the Athletics Department and the University.
• Be available as needed, including evenings and weekends, with some travel.

Required Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
• Acceptance by and enrollment in a St. Catherine University graduate program that has been approved for the fellowship.
• Bachelor's degree.
• Ice hockey coaching experience at any level or collegiate ice hockey playing experience.
• Integrity and leadership skills.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to build and strengthen cross-campus relationships.
• Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a diverse work environment.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment, and work independently with little supervision.
