OVERVIEW

The Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice at the University of St. Thomas invites applications for a Tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning September 1, 2020.

Ideal candidates will be able to teach Introduction to Sociology, Research Methods in Sociology, Sociological Analysis, Social Inequality: Privilege and Power, Sociological Theory, Seminar in Sociology, and Social Psychology. The candidate must have an interdisciplinary background who can teach courses that support the Family Studies Program such as Adolescence in Society, Marriage and Families, Sex in Society, along with the potential to teach specialty topics based on the individual's teaching and research interests. In addition to strong scholarship and teaching, the ideal candidate will demonstrate capacity to develop creative programming for students, to engage students in research, and to foster community engagement opportunities by building strong relationships with local or global community partners.

QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must hold a PhD in Sociology or a closely related field; alternatively, an ABD will be considered starting at the rank of Instructor. (J.D. or L.L.B. is not sufficient).
