CommonBond is excited to announce an opening for an Academic Coordinator position at our Central Office located in St. Paul. This position is full-time (40 hours/week). The Academic Coordinator establishes and implements K-8 reading and math curricula and interventions for youth in out-of-school time programs performing below grade level with the goal of getting youth to grade level.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND ASSOCIATED TASK
1.) Curriculum Development and Lesson Planning
a. Identify academic curricula and/or resources in reading to use in an Out of School Time environment with K-6th youth.
b. Provide individualized academic interventions/lesson plans for cohort of youth served in Out of School Time programs.
c. Utilize historical and current assessment data to inform interventions and lesson plans.
2.) Training and support
a. Provide support and guidance to staff on academic best practices.
b. Support volunteer mentors in their implementation of lesson plans with youth with which they work.
3.) Assessment
a. Provide leadership on use of academic assessments.
b. Conduct assessments and progress monitoring at select sites.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
1.) Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in related field or at least three years experience in a related field.
2.) Ability to analyze academic assessment data and develop targeted interventions in response.
3.) 1 year experience working in education, youth development, human services or social services.
4.) Available to work M-Th 3pm – 7pm (minimum) plus additional hours for program planning and administration.
5.) Ability to utilize Microsoft Office Software and web based programs.
6.) Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
7.) Demonstrated experience working within diverse communities, which include people of various ages, gender, sexual orientations, national origins, income levels, ability levels, religious affiliations, races, and languages.
8.) Be Certified in CPR and First Aid or have the ability to become certified within six months of starting position

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
1.) Multilingual.
2.) Teaching license in Elementary Education, K-6, or K-8.
3.) 3 or more years experience working in education, youth development, human services or social services.
