Job Details

Incumbent, under minimal supervision by the Special Projects Manager, is responsible to schedule Special Projects rework requests from Sales groups, HQ, RMA’s from customer’s, and others as required.  The incumbent will utilize various systems, such as SMES, GERP(SAP) to support the project systematically.  The planner is responsible for interfacing with the WMP system (SAP) to verify material BOMS, material movements, and other information to support the project.  The position is responsible for planning to meet the request dates (RDD) from the organization that requested the project. Maintain tracking and reporting systems to monitor production attainment, inventory accuracy, and other defined KPIs.  The planner is responsible to communicate to the various business entities about issues affecting the plan.  The planner will communicate to the Sales Order Management team to ensure alignment to customer delivery dates.  The planner also communicates to Sr. Account Managers in the field to communicate project schedules or identify risk issues that could affect product deliveries. The planner functions as the point of contact for the Special Project team, with respect to scheduled completion dates.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Other duties may be assigned.  In this position, either directly or through others, the incumbent will:

 

  • Develop Production Plans for Special Project requests utilizing information from the SMES, PES, GERP, systems. Analyze material levels to ensure material availability to support the production plan. (50%)
  • Analyzes the BOM in SAP to ensure correctness and communicate issues to the Purchasing Team. (50%)
  • Ensures that AT&T Product Information Datasheet conforms. (25%)
  • Interfaces with Sales Order Management team to review production plan and verify that it meets the current weeks requirements and satisfies scheduled customer deliveries in SAP. (25%)
  • Participates in STA’s engineering and product change process in support of ECNs, EOL, PIDs, and material cost reduction initiatives to ensure that all activities are in sync with production and shipping plans as required. (15%)
  • Works with Engineering team to develop line capacities of new models and calculate takt times to populate Planning data base. (15%)
  • Interface with Phone Packaging Planners to provide schedules of materials to be packaged in main packaging floor. (15%)
  • Develop reports for STA management team and HQ level reports to identify cost improvement opportunities with respect to line run rates and optimum throughput takt time. (15%)
  • Maintains metrics and KPIs for the department and communicates these metrics to appropriate management within STA. (10%)
  • Perform analysis of cycle counts to ensure accuracy is maintained above 99%, and communicate to the management any deviations. (10%)
  • Perform EOL tracking to minimize obsolescence of components packaging materials and scrap costs. Develop and publish EOL report weekly and monthly for management. (10%)
  • Participate with the Product Development Teams for new product development dealing with packaging capability. (10%)

     

    Background/Experience to qualify for this position, the following minimal background and skill levels are required:

     

  • Associates Degree, Bachelors Degree preferred, in Logistics, Industrial Engineering or business management or similar course of study from a college or university, or equivalent work experience. Work experience in mobile manufacturing/planning in lieu of degree to exceed 8 years.
  • Should have a minimum of 1~2 years experience in inventory control, production planning, scheduling, hi-tech products or parts purchasing, in support of manufacturing or assembly operations.
  • Demonstrated abilities in telecommunications or similar high tech products, planning, researching and ordering utilizing a SAP or similar business enterprise system for scheduling and inventory control processes.
  • Read write and verbal communications skills to prepare and present plans and information to Production Management, Quality Department personnel, Warehouse personnel, any other relevant supporting departments.
  • Experience using Microsoft PC software including extensive use of Excel spreadsheets, Word, Access.
  • Experience with SAP or similar business systems and/or sales order management software applications.

  • Demonstrated English language competency in both oral and written communication modes for both internal and external communications at various levels.
  • Work under general supervision and guidance from manager or supervisor to identify and ensure achievement of production team goals and to complete individual assignments within established time frames.
  • The demonstrated ability to solve problems requiring creativity to search for solutions among learned experiences. Work is guided by objectives and broad functional direction. Some analysis and judgement is required to determine appropriate courses of action.

     

    Physical/Mental Demands and Working Conditions: The position requires the ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities in the following environment:

     

  • Operate a computer keyboard and view a video display terminal more than 95% of work time in a moderately mobile and sedentary position.
  • Lift, move, or adjust general office equipment, boxes, supplies, materials or products weighing up to 25 pounds using proper materials handling equipment and procedures.
  • High level of visual acuity, numeric and character detail and moderate color distinction for accurate preparation of documents, for information analysis and error recognition.
  • High hand/finger dexterity with fine motor coordination skills to perform data entry work.
  • Under very little supervision where general policies govern, daily activities are seldom monitored and performance is measured by effective results. Most work is not directly verified, errors may involve internal losses or cost to correct. Access to some confidential data, disclosure is of negligible effect.
  • Travel less then 10% of time, if at all.
  • Frequent work of additional hours beyond normal schedule.
