About this Opportunity

In this role, you will support the data and analytics capabilities related to Target's initiative to drive improvement in On-Shelf Availability. On-Shelf Availability is an algorithmically derived method of detecting store shelf out-of-stocks by item, location and time. It provides a much deeper understanding of the Target guest experience related to in-store item availability. This role involves the deployment of these capabilities to measure, report, analyze and improve in-store item availability for Target guests.

As a Sr Data Analyst for On-Shelf Availability you'll:

Interface with Target business representatives to validate business requirements/requests for analysis and present final analytical results
  • Develop business acumen and cultivate client relationships
  • Study statistical methodologies

Determine best method to gather, model, manipulate and present data
  • Keep up to date on industry trends, best practices, and emerging methodologies
  • Follow appropriate analytical methodology including testing/baseline/measurement/comparators strategy
  • Identify data sources
  • Develop project plans

Performs statistical analysis to support business needs.
  • Gathers required data and performs data analysis to support needs
  • Evaluates, processes, analyzes, and interprets statistical data
  • Interprets results using a variety of techniques, ranging from simple data aggregation to complex data mining and statistical modeling
  • Designs, develops, and delivers analytical solutions resulting in decision support or models
  • Under guidance, conducts analysis and benefits/risk assessment to estimate outcomes and validate analysis

Communicates to share knowledge and findings
  • Presents results in a manner that the business partners can understand
  • Communicate impact of proposed solutions to business partners

Documents analytical methodologies used in the execution of analytical projects
  • Participate in knowledge sharing system to support iterative model builds
  • Translate scientific methodology to business terms.
  • Adheres to corporate information protection standards.

  • BA/BS in a quantitative degree - Math, Statistics, Econometrics, Data Sciences, Computer Science or equivalent work experience
  • 3 plus years of experience in reporting and data visualization - Domo/Tableau
  • Extensive exposure to: visualization, coding (SQL, R, Python, Hadoop/Hive), business consulting, database architecture, data mining, statistical analysis, machine learning and collaboration with business partners
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skillsets
  • Exposure and extensive hands on work with large data sets
