OVERVIEW

The Department of Operations and Supply Chain Management in the Opus College of Business at the University of Saint Thomas, MN, invites applications for a tenure-track business analytics position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. The position begins in August 2020.

The Opus College of Business is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International. The college offers a Master of Science in Business Analytics, a joint degree program with Graduate Programs in Software in the College of Engineering that has over 150 students. The college also offers a graduate certificate in business analytics that can be taken as a stand-alone option or as part of an MBA program. The college recently launched an interdisciplinary minor in Data Analytics in collaboration with departments from the College of Arts & Sciences and is considering the expansion of its business analytics program portfolio, including in health care analytics.

Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications.

QUALIFICATIONS

A Ph.D. in a business discipline with expertise in the areas of statistics, operations management, business analytics or management information systems is required. Candidates who possess a Ph.D. or terminal degree in a closely related field and ABDs in advanced stages will also be considered.

The successful candidate must be willing and able to teach graduate and undergraduate courses in business analytics. Candidates will be expected to teach courses in one or more of the following subjects: statistics, data visualization, modeling (spreadsheet, predictive, prescriptive), data preparation and pre-processing, health care analytics, and end-to-end business analytics projects. Candidates should also be able and willing to teach in operations and supply chain management or applied analytics courses in other specific business disciplines. We are interested in candidates who have demonstrated commitment to providing leadership in teaching, research, or service toward building an equitable and diverse scholarly environment.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and have an active research agenda. A combination of online, hybrid, and face-to-face course delivery will be expected.

Candidates with a proven record of excellence in research and teaching will be given preference in the selection process. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in R, Python, Tableau, and/or Power BI. Industry experience in business analytics, operations management and/or information systems is preferred. A demonstrated interest in emerging technologies – including artificial intelligence, Blockchain, robotics, the Internet of Things – is also preferred.
