Position Details

Status: Part-time/Temporary/Seasonal (PTS) position, non-exempt 

Hours:  During league games, three to five hours per week Wednesday evenings November-March 

Salary:  Starts at $25.50 per hour

Location: Central Middle School

Reporting Relationship:  Reports to Recreation Supervisor – Adult Athletics & Athletic Facilities

Recreation Division

The Recreation Services Division has the responsibility for managing all recreation facilities and providing a variety of affordable recreation programs and services for all age groups and people for all abilities. The staff in this division are responsible for the management of facilities such as the Community Center, the Senior Center, and the Outdoor Center, as well as all other City park buildings and recreation facilities such as swimming beaches, sledding hill, amphitheatre and facilities on school property that are operated in partnership with the School District such as the Oak Point Pool and tennis courts at CMS.

Position Responsibilities

The League Basketball Official performs duties for adult recreation sports league games. The primary position responsibilities and areas of impact are: 

  1. Provides quality, safe and enjoyable leisure opportunities for all participants.
  2. Demonstrates, facilitates, and enforces local league rules and regulations.
  3. Promotes fair play, good sportsmanship, and a fun and safe environment for all league participants.

While these areas are the primary focus of the position, we believe strongly in teamwork and employees will be called upon to perform a variety of duties as a part of their role with the City. 

There may be opportunities for this person to work as a scorekeeper (at a lower pay rate) during off nights.

Position Requirements

Education: Knowledge and understanding of all basketball rules and local league rules; CPR and First Aid certifications preferred. 

Physical Requirements: This position requires the ability to frequently and bend, stand, reach, and endurance for running up and down the court.
