Adoption Minnesota is a private, nonprofit adoption agency in Minneapolis. We specialize in domestic adoptions, primarily of infants. We provide support to both adoptive and birth parents throughout the state.
We are looking for a licensed social worker to work part-time hours as well as be on call as a birth parent counselor. Our birth parent counselors provide support to clients throughout their adoption plan: from making a decision, designing their placement plan, support in and around the hospital experience, and after placement of the baby/child.
The position we are seeking would include two 8-hour weekday shifts covering our birth parent phone line and being scheduled on-call and serving as "back up" for the other counselors. This person would be trained to cover and work with a birth parent during any stage of their placement plan. All of our staff is expected to attend our monthly staff meetings and trainings.
This part time and on-call position requires a license in social work and some experience in an adoption related field or having worked with young women in similar circumstances. Our birth parents reside all over the state, so car travel is expected.
Must have: a current MN license in social work, counseling experience with women between the ages of teens and 20's, ability to work with a variety of young women, and ability to shift gears easily quickly and function independently as well as be a team player. We need you to have excellent communication skills with the ability to connect with clients, work closely with co-workers, hospital staff, referral sources and positively represent the agency.
