MEMBERSHIP BILLING & ENROLLMENT REPRESENTATIVE

Position Description

This position includes responsibilities for both billing and enrollment processes. The goal is to be able to meet the needs of the department through flexibility in the distribution of work load and a focus on timely, accurate deliverables. The specific tasks are generally assigned by the accountable team Supervisor or Manager. Although Representatives will be assigned to a product team as their primary focus, their work will not be restricted to one product depending on the department needs.

This position consists primarily of data entry, some limited research and performing basic compares. These duties include both billing and enrollment processes, such as: ensuring daily and monthly enrollment files run, error reports are worked timely and accurately, forms are submitted to the appropriate entity timely and accurately, appropriate retention of forms received, verifying information as needed, managing the feeds from vendor and the State, ensuring timely and accurate data is submitted to third party delegate, member premium payment application, processing member refunds and member premium returns, reviewing and handling EFT forms, changes and terminations.

  • Meet department standards for timeliness, completeness and accuracy. Support other team members and processes as needed to promote department's ability to meet requirements and produce accurate and timely deliverables.
  • Process enrollment reports including verifying data, loading files ensuring that errors are corrected and members are accurately enrolled with timely and complete submission. This may include updates in PBM system and/or generation of letters for co-pay.
  • Accurately process all aspect of member premium payments, including posting, reconciling, refunding and handling bank return items.
  • Accurately update premium bill method, including setup and any account changes. Create and distribute Group invoices.
  • Research, verify and process EFT member aging and terminated member aging reports, including verification of account balance, initiating credit adjustments, letter creation, and requesting refunds or writing off bad debt.
  • Validate and update eligibility data identified as discrepancies in the Health Care Economics reconciliation reports.
  • Ability to identify errors in enrollment and billing through knowledge of contractual and regulatory requirements, policies, and internal and external systems.
  • Initiate and respond to Service Forms and member correspondence as needed to ensure member data is updated timely and any member questions are appropriately responded to and routed to Customer Service.
  • Correct member number with "misfiled" documents, linking scanned documents to the correct member file. Process returned mail, including updating demographics and either re-mail letters or create new letters.
  • Participate in process and quality improvement, department initiatives/plan and employee engagement. Provide input into department policies and procedures, including creating and maintaining Step by Steps work instructions.
  • Ensure the department meets expectations by participating in Quality Assurance reviews.
  • Assist in departmental reporting and communication to other UCare departments.
  • Other projects and duties as assigned

Education

Associates degree in business or related field; demonstrated experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

Required Experience

One year experience in healthcare, insurance, accounts receivable processing or reconciliation. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Data entry experience required

Preferred Experience

Knowledge of Medicare and/or Medicaid, health insurance enrollment and/or premium billing.
