Hunter Hamilton has an immediate need for an experienced Medical Billing Specialist to work in Plymouth, MN! This is an exciting, long term contract role available immediately!
As a Medical Billing Specialist you will be responsible for the timely submission of technical or professional medical claims to insurance companies.
Qualifications:
Associate’s degree or related experience
6 months in a related field
As a Medical Billing Specialist you will be responsible for the timely submission of technical or professional medical claims to insurance companies.
- Obtaining referrals and pre-authorizations as required for procedures.
- Checking eligibility and benefits verification for treatments, hospitalizations, and procedures.
- Reviewing patient bills for accuracy and completeness, and obtaining any missing information.
- Preparing, reviewing, and transmitting claims using billing software, including electronic and paper claim processing.
- Following up on unpaid claims within standard billing cycle timeframe.
- Checking each insurance payment for accuracy and compliance with contract discount.
- Calling insurance companies regarding any discrepancy in payments if necessary
- Identifying and billing secondary or tertiary insurances.
- Reviewing accounts for insurance of patient follow-up.
- Researching and appealing denied claims.
- Answering all patient or insurance telephone inquiries pertaining to assigned accounts.
- Setting up patient payment plans and work collection accounts.
- Updating billing software with rate changes.
- Updating cash spreadsheets, and running collection reports.
Qualifications:
Associate’s degree or related experience
6 months in a related field
- Specific types of experience or skills required:
- Data entry experience
- Proficiency with Windows applications including MS Excel and MS Word
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Strong problem solving and decision making skills
- Keyboarding accuracy
- Strong customer focus
- Solid understanding of the enrollment and billing
- Healthcare/health insurance experience (preferred)
- Can effectively troubleshoot issues
- Strong communications and relationship skills for communications with the all business partners
- Strong quantitative reasoning skills
