BEHAVIORAL HEALTH CASE MANAGER

Position Description

This position is responsible to perform monthly accounting activities as assigned; including journal entries, account reconciliations and analysis. Assist in preparation internal monthly financial reporting packages owned by the Accounting Department. Prepare regulatory filings and reporting packages for areas of responsibility. Assist in the budget process. Provide support the annual actuarial certification and audit. Support CFO, Controller, Assistant Controller, and Accounting Manager with ad hoc analysis, financial projections, or special projects.

  • Responsible for timely and accurate preparation of assigned journal entries. Ensuring the balance has proper support and files have appropriate levels of controls. Ensuring the use of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and statutory accounting principles (SAP).


  • Responsible for preparation of timely and accurate assigned account reconciliations which encompasses adequate support. Providing timely communication of any identified accounting adjustments to the Accounting Manager.


  • Prepare analysis and/or financial projections stating results/conclusions reached and support special projects/activities as requested.


  • Recommend and implement improved reporting of revenue and expenses. Partner with business owners to identify and measure operational efficiencies and cost savings.


  • Prepare and coordinate information in UCare's quarterly and annual regulatory filings with the Minnesota Department of Health, Wisconsin Office of Commissioner of Insurance, Department of Commerce, NAIC, rating agencies, and any other external reporting entity.


  • Support the creation of required reports, including medical costs reported in the DHS Financial Report, Integrated Health Partnership control totals, and other standard regulatory reports. Ensure data supplied to Health Care Economics complies with state and federal regulations.


  • Assist Accounting Manager in the annual actuarial certification processes by preparing requested schedules information and provider support for questions submitted by actuaries and auditors within required timeframes.


  • Assist Accounting Manager in responding to medical cost related requests in UCare's annual financial public accounting audit and annual/periodical financial/operational regulatory audits by the Minnesota Department of Health, Wisconsin Commissioner of Insurance, Department of Health and Human Services, and other external entities.


  • Assist in annual forecast and budget process and preparation of budget presentation information. Other budget tasks as assigned.


  • Maintain a strong cross functional relationship with Health Care Economics, Claims, Provider Relations, Government Relations, and other departments whose activities have an impact on organizational medical cost estimates.


  • Maintain a thorough understanding of Commercial, Medicare and State Public Program benefit and cost structures, including basic care, waivers and add-ons. Coordinate with Medicare Reporting group to consistently reports costs for the SNP products. Maintain a thorough understanding of data structure within Amisys, UCare provider contracts, financials, product lines, and claim processing procedures.


  • Provide backup support as needed for key operational tasks.


  • Other projects and duties as assigned.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Accounting.

Required Experience

Two years of accounting and financial analysis experience. Advanced Excel skills.

Preferred Experience

CPA. Prior health care and/or public accounting experience.
