JOB SUMMARY

This position will work with subject matter experts (SME) to design and develop online learning in a variety of non-credit formats including hybrid courses, micro-learning, instructional modules and mobile. They will participate in all phases of the process including analysis, requirements gathering, design, development, testing and evaluation. This position will also interact with web designers and STELAR staff in the design and delivery of non-credit programming. This position at times will assist STELAR staff with academic support, non-credit or otherwise.

To qualify for this position the candidate must have experience with industry standard tools and methodologies regarding project management, requirement development, instructional and interactive design process, usability, and user experience to be able to recommend and evaluate non-credit programming and delivery.

This person serves on project teams and should have an intermediate to advanced level of knowledge and experience with all of these above mentioned processes and related tools.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Online Instructional Design and User Experience

  • Collaborate with SME's in the design and development of online non-credit courses. Ensure that the content and instructional strategies meet established learning objectives. Work with Web designers and STELAR staff in the creation of interactive media. Work with STELAR staff to select and support appropriate learning technologies. Remains current on design, instructional research and user experience principles. Be knowledgeable about current St. Thomas learning platforms (e.g. – Canvas, Bridge), or have the ability to be trained on those platforms.
  • Is proficient with and follows ITS procedures for communication updates and guidelines. Remains current on information about technology trends. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Education, Instructional Design, or a closely related field

  • Two (2) years of professional level experience providing instructional design support to a variety of audiences

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree
  • Previous experience in a higher education/instruction/marketing environment
