The University of St. Thomas invites qualified candidates to apply for a Program Manager II of the HHMI Inclusive Excellence Grant Program.

JOB SUMMARY

In fall 2018, the University of St. Thomas was awarded a four-year HHMI Inclusive Excellence grant to improve inclusivity in the STEM education environment. The Program Manager of the grant program will help administer, coordinate, and assess grant related programs at the University of St. Thomas. The Program Manager will support multiple organizations, help build bridges between programs, and create new opportunities related to inclusive excellence and STEM education. The Program Manager will facilitate opportunities for multidisciplinary inquiry across courses by strategically leveraging existing curricular and co-curricular programs. The Program Manager will collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g., Center for Faculty Development, Grants and Research Office, Student Diversity and Inclusion Services, Center for Student Achievement, Center for the Common Good, Office of Student Affairs, and academic departments and programs) to enrich STEM student experiences and leverage opportunities to improve inclusion in STEM education and university culture. The Program Manager will develop means of sharing inclusive excellence projects and findings with internal and external stakeholders and professional networks including, for example, a web presence, project displays, academic papers and presentations, or related products. The Program Manager will apply results from student and faculty program evaluations to continually improve the program. The Program Manager will also provide leadership and input in conceptualizing, planning, implementing, and grant writing for additional university-wide curricular inclusion-related initiatives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Help coordinate, oversee and further develop a STEM inclusive Excellence mentoring program, including faculty and peer mentor training and program planning, recruitment, and assessment

  • Research and collect data to analyze grant progress toward grant objectives; evaluate impact of programming on faculty, students, staff; and produce other reports as requested

  • Network, recruit from and act as liaison with STEM departments, faculty, staff and student organizations to promote inclusive excellence. Develop collaborations with related organizations and programs, both on and off campus, to enrich student experiences and leverage opportunities that arise.

  • Develop means of sharing projects and findings with internal and external stakeholders and professional networks including, for example, a web presence, project displays, academic papers and presentations, and related products.

  • Develop and maintain Inclusive Excellence communications including websites, internal communication programs, and social media

  • Provide leadership and input in conceptualizing, planning, and implementing additional inclusivity-related initiatives connected to teaching, research, policy, and service

  • Supervise student workers and other staff, as appropriate


QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
  • Five years of program management experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or greater from an accredited college or university in a field with an emphasis on Inclusion and Diversity, Organizational Learning, STEM Education, or a related field
  • Three years of recent experience in higher education or in a similar role
  • Knowledge of issues, trends, and needs of higher education programs
  • Effective written and oral communication methods; project management and analytical techniques
  • Mentor-training, experience working directly with under-represented student populations
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, including public speaking, and intercultural competency
  • Ability to use creativity, leadership, and problem-solving skills to foster curricular inclusion-related engagement on campus and with campus stakeholders
  • Ability to develop collaborations with diverse community and university stakeholders using exceptional interpersonal communication skills
