JOB SUMMARY

The Part-Time Temporary Career Specialist provides career services to students and alumni. The primary service will include individual career counseling/coaching and drop-in sessions and on-line communication with students and alumni. Limited workshop/classroom presentations may be required. Possible outreach to university departments, student organizations and faculty as it relates to counseling/program development.

We anticipate this role to be a two month, temporary position. Additionally, this is a part-time role anticipated to work up to 30 hours per week, depending on the business needs of the department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provide individual career counseling/coaching and drop-in sessions to students and alumni regarding major/career exploration, internship/job search strategies and other career related topics
  • Use current technologies in assessments, counseling, program planning and development and communicating with the student population for marketing and educational purposes
  • Provide outreach to students and consultation with faculty through on-line tools, seminars, classes, clubs and organizations
  • Responsible for administrative tasks including case notes, staff meetings, phone and web communication, reports, record keeping and contribute to office operations
  • Support career events such at major field events, job/internship fairs, and employer sessions
  • Other responsibilities/projects as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in counseling, adult development, student development, business, education, human resource development, or a related field

  • Three years relevant professional experience in higher education career development, coaching, executive recruiting or human resources

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or MA in educational counseling, human resource development, or a related field
  • Coaching certificate
  • Knowledge of career development field and job search skills
