The Process Assistant Engineer supports the Engineering Department at the Packaging Center. Specifically, the position requires performing work analysis to establish tact times/line of balance/process flow chart for packaging, equipment auditing (weigh scales), 6S compliance, and work process compliance. The position will be responsible for equipment asset logs, purchasing of replacement packaging equipment, and assist in the selection of new equipment. The position will request IT equipment as required by the 3PL packaging labor provider. The position requires the performance of audits of the 3PL provider to ensure compliance to company policies. This position will also be a backup to the Label engineer for label services supporting the packaging of the mobile and accessory product. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Perform time studies and analysis on packaging activities to increase efficiency, capacity, and throughput while reducing cost and headcount.
Monitor FAI production to ensure that kits are packaging in accordance with work instructions. Verify that production materials match up to work instruction materials. Investigate any discrepancies between work instruction materials and production materials.
Manage preventative maintenance and calibration for packaging related equipment. Maintain documentation for any service or changes to the existing equipment. Assist in the selection and implementation of new equipment.
Validate that the 3PL packaging labor provider is using standardized process flows for all packaging methods to ensure quality is consistent.
Perform regular 6S audits on the packaging area. Issue and verify all corrective actions have been implemented.
Primarily responsible for managing all owned IT related equipment utilized by the 3PL packaging labor provider. Submits requisitions for new equipment and repair tickets on existing equipment. Will also validate the need for new equipment with ROI calculations in accordance with business needs.
Collect data on incoming parts to ensure that packaging processes will be uninterrupted. Perform statistical analysis on the data to determine if any manufacturing changes are required by the vendor. Verify certain materials are properly identified from suppliers to support barcode verification during the packaging process. Report any out of tolerance findings to Supplier Quality Team.
Primarily responsible for creating detailed packaging work instructions for mobile enhancements packaging. Will serve in a backup role for creating work instructions for handset packaging.
Background/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in technical discipline. In lieu of a technical degree, a Bachelor’s degree in Business field or General Studies.
Preferred 2 years minimum of experience in high technology company, preferably in a mobile phone manufacturing or packaging of customer electronics organization
3 years plus of experience with MS Applications, and experience with SAP preferred
Experience in a fast paced environment requiring customer compliance with quality, schedules, and cost controls
Korean bilingual strongly preferred
Necessary Skills/Attributes:
MS Applications, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access
Math ability for calculation of ROI, IRR, and similar financial measures
Ability to effectively communicate in writing and speaking to peers and mid management personnel
Ability to work will little direct supervision and achieve results
Frequently works additional hours beyond normal schedule
Physical/Mental Demands and Working Conditions:
Operate a computer keyboard and view a video display terminal more than 95% of work time in a moderately mobile and sedentary position.
Lift, move, or adjust general office equipment, boxes, supplies, materials or products weighing up to 25 pounds using proper materials handling equipment and procedures.
High level of visual acuity, numeric and character detail and moderate color distinction for accurate preparation of documents, for information analysis and error recognition.
High hand/finger dexterity with fine motor coordination skills to perform data entry work.
Under very little supervision where general policies govern, daily activities are seldom monitored and performance is measured by effective results. Most work is not directly verified, errors may involve internal losses or cost to correct. Access to some confidential data, disclosure is of negligible effect.
Travel less than 10% of time, if at all.
