The OBPD&M Strategy & Operations team comprises project managers, operations managers and innovation strategists. Project managers lead cross-functional teams in the creation and ownership of product development and the execution of project plans. They also drive results by working across the business to develop products and manage resources. Operations Managers support strategic initiatives and improvements for the OBPD&M organization and its cross-functional teams. They also manage the OBPD&M technology portfolio and product lifecycle management (PLM) system. Innovation strategists connect the right people and resources to create the human-centric experiences that attract new guests and generate business value. Here, you'll solve complex merchandising and enterprise problems through a broad range of innovations. As a 3D Technical Artist, you will play a critical role in Target's emerging 3D owned brand product design and development capability. The role requires collaboration with product design and development teams to visualize assets in 3D, including modeling, model rigging, texturing (UV mapping), lighting, rendering and compositing. You will create interactive content and apply your vast knowledge of 3D applications to support design and development teams. You will responsible for Assessing quality of work, diagnosing and fixing issues to enable the visualization and exchange of reusable assets. You will work on applied 3D research and development projects in which you will test and apply emerging technologies and industry practices for the benefit of 3D in product design and development. Your expertise will guide the development of specialized software for 3D visualization. Leverage your technical expertise to collaborate with tech development teams on special projects, and lead or support workflow and software enhancements including some scripting; e.g. Python, Javascript, Maxscript) Expand your impact by assessing team member and business partner capabilities in order to develop and deliver relevant 3D learning experiences and ensure that content they create meets our 3D standards.

About You:
  • 2-4 year CGI, 3D, design related degree or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years of experience, in a broad range of 3D work and roles
  • Demonstrated practical experience working in 3D visualization including product and architectural visualization, applying a variety of skills that may include: 3D Rendering, Animation 2D and 3D, Modeling, Digital Sculpting, Lighting, Compositing, Runtime Asset Creation, Texturing, fur/ hair setup
  • 3D Expertise/ experience with a variety of 3D modeling and visualization software that may include: 3DS Max, Maya, Vray, Corona, Marvelous Designer/Clo3D, Zbrush, Substance Painter/Designer, Solid Works, Rhino, Keyshot, Unity and Unreal
  • Deep understanding of the technology and techniques relevant to the department disciplines (digital workflows, simulation, physics, shading, rendering technologies).
  • Familiarity with Physically Based Rendering (PBR) material creation in Substance Painter/Designer, Alchemist and Vizoo.
  • 2D Expertise/ experience with a variety of 2D design software: Photoshop, Illustrator Indesign, After Effects
  • Understanding of procedural workflow (Shader, Model, Animation, Effects)
  • Have well-developed team & project management skills, verbal and written communication skills and foster positive, collaborative relationships
