Associate Textile Designer
Job Description Summary:
The Associate Textile Designer collaborated with Textile team to research, design and develop artwork from concept through execution that meets Target's high standards for textile design excellence.
Trend Research and Development: Uses multiple sources of media (retail, trade shows, internet, pop culture, etc.) and creative intuition to assist in the identification of recurring patterns and translates inspiration into a saleable trend. Analyze and synthesize data to recommend relevant trend, textile, and design strategies to design and merchant teams.
Brand Concept: Participate in the creation of aesthetically appealing presentations to influence design and merchant partners on textile product ideas and direction. This includes art creation and concept preparation. Uses CAD software to prepare, modify and resize textile designs. This may include body fills and placements were applicable to help demonstrate creative vision.
Textile Product Design: Integrates hand and computer skills to create original designs, illustrations, graphics and prints exclusive to Target that achieve overall creative objective. This may include textile design ownership of limited fixtures or programs through stretch assignments and/or special projects. Translates textile designs into development that specify product attributes. Completes hands off of textile development to Technical team for execution.
Development: Learns and understands various kinds of textile design and execution techniques on multiple fabrications, including printing, weaving, and embellishments. Assist in ensuring quality textile design execution. Collaborate with design and technical teams to ensure manufacturability by identifying, troubleshooting and resolving textile production issues.
Requirements:
4 year Design, Fine Art or similar degree and minimum 0-2 years' experience
Passion for Kids interests, inclusivity, illustration & graphic tees
Technical skills: Illustrator and Photoshop. NedGraphics is a plus
Demonstrate high taste level & creative ability
Experience in illustration, lettering, & color usage
Eager to learn & collaborate to bring newness to the guest, ability to research and apply market/trend information
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Willing to learn & understand of guest/consumer mindset
Ability to prioritize and manage workload with multiple stakeholders and deadlines
Strong listening skills & experience assimilating feedback
Demonstrate pro-active thinking and problem-solving ability
Ability to multi-task & successfully work in a collaborative, fast-paced team environment
Be an effective team player & manage relationships with team & key business partners
