The nonpartisan Research Department of the Minnesota House of Representatives is accepting applications for one Legislative Analyst position.  This person likely will: (1) work on employment and labor law issues that arise as part of the legislative process; and (2) act as an in-house counsel on employment law issues that arise in the House’s role as an employer.

We are aiming for a December start date for a person selected to fill this position.  The position is regular, full-time with benefits.

We want someone who has: (1) a law degree and license; (2) work experience as an attorney in handling employment law issues (preferably representing a public or private sector employer); (3) excellent human relations and teamwork skills; (4) excellent oral and written communication skills; and (5) interest in public policy and government.  Knowledge of the legislative process is desirable but not required.

The House offers a competitive salary, commensurate with experience.  Please state any salary requirements in your cover letter.

The Research Department is a nonpartisan office charged with providing research and legal services to the entire membership of the House of Representatives.  Legislative Analysts work independently and in small teams, providing bill and amendment drafting; research and analysis concerning laws and government policies, programs, and finances; and related staff assistance for House committees and members.  For further information about the Research Department, see http://www.house.mn/hrd/.
