Job Title: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Reports to:  Superior Health Quality Alliance, Inc. (Superior Health) Board of Directors

% FTE: 0.6 FTE

Position Summary: The CEO oversees and directs the business and affairs of the Superior Health Quality Alliance, including the implementation of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Network of Quality Improvement and Innovation Contractors (NQIIC) contract and program. The CEO acts as the primary liaison between the Superior Health Board of Directors and Superior Health staff and task order teams.

The position will be employed by either the Michigan Health & Hospital Association (MHA) or Stratis Health (2 of the 8-member organization of the Superior Health joint venture), and will be offered a competitive salary and benefits package as a staff member of one of the organizations.  Superior Health uses a distributed team model (team members work across geographic boundaries and time zones). Dependent on hiring organization, the position will be based in either Lansing, MI (at MHA), or Bloomington, MN (at Stratis Health), with the option of working virtually on a periodic basis. The position may expand to include additional responsibilities, potentially up to full-time.

General Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Performs all duties incident to the office of a CEO, and other such duties as from time to time may be assigned by the Board.
  2. Supervises the Superior Health-related work of the staff, who are primarily staff of the eight Superior Health member organizations and who maintain regular employment at their home organization.
  3. Provides general contract oversight and management of a federal government agency health care quality improvement contract which includes a master contract (NQIIC) and multiple separate task orders.

Job Skills Requirements:

  • Education: Project Management, Master’s degree preferred or equivalent experience in healthcare administration or related field.
  • Previous Experience:  History of progressively increasing management responsibility, including management of a virtual organization. Prior oversight of multiple teams and business lines. History of reporting to a board of directors and/or working in a matrixed organization. Successful experience in managing government contracting.
  • Leadership Skills: Relationship management, communication, conflict resolution, decision making, and exercising 'influence without authority' across the eight-member organizations of Superior Health. Able to represent Superior Health in delivering presentations, negotiating agreements and contracts, and strategic planning. Expected to lead with integrity and with ethical behavior.

Position may require overnight travel.
